How long will you keep your Z4?

My 3-year lease is expiring in March. Since the car only has 22,000 miles on it and has another year of full warranty left, I've decided to buy it. I plan to keep it another 2 years or so.

How long will you keep yours?

Had mine nearly 2 and a half years now, will keep it for another year. All paid off too...

Bought my 2009 in August 2011 new. So still has over 2 1/2 years warranty. Will be a good excuse to get a new one then. Don't really relish the thought of paying for repairs such as the retractable roof mechanism.

Knock on wood, no major prbs so far (already over 2.5 yrs). Plan on keeping it indefinitely.

I envy your feeling. I've had no major issues, but a lot of minor ones. Its taken the shine off the ownership experience and its not likely it will be a keeper.

Going to have mine delivered Feb1. Its a CPO and has warranty out till Feb1 2015. Most Likely will trade it in at that time for next gen z4.

I'm not planning to keep my car after the 36 month lease contract is up.

I've got some doubts about the long term longevity of the car. For example some squeaks starting to develop, oil has gotten up 265F+ temperatures several times, starting to hear some clunks from the DCT when its cold.

The car has been fine from 0 to 6 months but I can't say I've felt confidence that it would be fine when it is out of warranty.

The other factor is that my residual is 66% so I would be ridiculously overpaying if I bought the car out.

And now that C7 vette is out, the Z4 just seems to be an even worse value.

Ownership has been a little over 3 years now, besides the fuel pump issue back in 2010, no other issues since. I have the option to extend the warranty for an additional 2 years or 100k miles, but I may pass on it due to the modifications on the car.

I plan to keep this car and just add if I need another one.

3 years on our 2010 (after BMWNA buyback of 09 ED). We love it and have had no problems with it at 30k miles. It is just about paid off so I plan on keeping it for several mores years; now that it is our 3rd car, it is seeing less than 500 miles per month.

I am thinking that i might keep this one for a while. While it isnt a collector car or anything i simply cannot get a smile off my face the entire time I have owned it.

Yes, there were a few minor prbs along the way but virtually all have been resolved (save for the HVAC electric gremlin that I overcame w/ the 'T-Fix'). I'm over 92,000kms (57,000miles) and over 2.5 yrs.

I bought my 2010 35i back in November of 2009. Other than having the lpfp replaced due to the whining noise, I have had no issues or problems with the car. I paid the car off within the first six months of ownership. I love the car and believe it is one of the best looking cars out there.

I plan on keeping it until the 2015 completely re-designed Z4 comes out. I don't know how they can improve, lookwise on this model, but we'll see. I can't see me driving anything but a BMW and I love roadsters so if the new
Z4 isn't as nice as the E89, I will get the last model year of this one. I love the hyper orange!

I kept my 2003 4 years and it had no issues when I sold it. My plan is to keep this a long time . . . . . . . . but those pictures of the new corvette look pretty cool. Probably can't afford the new vette though

Got it in 2009 and will keep it until the new one comes out. Might get a close look at the new M4 if it isnt as bulky as the E92 M3.

Will keep mine until I can afford a GT-R .... OR maybe not and continue driving this to the ground...here's hoping that look will not become dated for the next 5+ yrs.

Would love the GT-R but more realistically I think I'll be in a 5 series touring or the new 4 series coupe in another year or two, once my warranty expires!

This is a 130k USD car in China. And given I lived in the US two times before, and could somewhat easily move there again, I feel I have selected this car over more expensive alternatives. The real question for me is if I would rather have a newer version with warranty and then live in the US.

I think this car is a keeper because
1) It is beautiful inside and out, and still will be for years.
2) It is always very exciting to drive.
3) It is rare and exclusive here.
4) It is a hard-top convertible, not a soft-top.
5) Mine has a great sound system. And yes it really matters...
6) I hope I will continue to live in an area with lots of mountains, beaches and nice weather where I can enjoy driving such a car.
7) I like to support a company who has invested in engineering the way they have.
8) Even if the fuel prices go up significantly, there are plenty of cheaper transportation alternatives available here, and it would still be a great weekend car.

I still admire BMW for trying to do things the right way more than other comparable car companies. Just to give one example: I basically do not think there is any excuse for making V6 engines instead of I6 or boxer engines. Its the same when starting out with front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive platforms for that matter. From a driving-fun view-point, it is just not right. You would probably only do those things if you value having lots of cabin space more than having fun while driving. So that deletes most cars and car companies out there for me. You may of course argue that selecting RFTs, using turbos, and using too much steel instead of aluminum is also wrong, but but but...

If this beauty is not a keeper, I do not know which current BMW is!
