Does the M-sport pack address that? (Hint: no. See title.)

Obvious conclusion: this is a marketing-made "appearance package" that doesn't improve the base car the way the M Groupe is supposed to... (see title).
What is this, a game of "state the obvious"? In an old thread no less. Thanks for clearing everything up for us...

I don't think anyone is under any illusions about the M sport package -- it's a trim and options package, with some minor sporting tweaks. It's not an M vehicle, nor should it be confused with one. BMW offers this type of M sport package on many of their cars, and the Z4 is no different.

BTW, I do agree with C&D's assessment -- compared to the best sports cars, the Z4's handling could easily be described as a bit vague. I think a good portion of that is due to the use of RFT, however.

It would seem a buyer is better off getting the Sd35is and retrofitting coilovers, a Quaife, a tune, exhaust ( etc etc etc - oh wait, isn't that what an M car should have?)

See title.
Sounds like he's jealous of newer Z4 after his old car is being treated as old and ugly looking.
Since when M pack boost any performance spec?

+1

Every BMW-driver knows that but most of the reviewers certainly do not!!! Otherwise they wouldn't write such b*llsh*t

It sounds like we've all called out rclem05 in our own special way.

It's funny, because none of us new Z4 (e89) owners have any reason or feel the need to waste our time offering our opinions or paraphrasing the opinions of others, over on the old Z4 (e85) forum.

I wonder why that is

Ya, I never got that...it seems quite common to see once in a while a member w/ the old Z4 doing the 'sour grapes' thing against the new Z4; I definitely don't see this going on as much in other car forums. I don't disparage the e85/e86; we're all in the BMW family. It's still a very nice-looking and capable car, but time moves on. I never understood these 'sweet lemon' and 'sour grapes' mentalities.

Winter Wheels

Hey, I have a very important question about winter wheels that I am getting mixed answers for. I am ready to make a deal on a 2013 E89 28i with M Sport package. I currently drive a 2011 3.0 WITHOUT M Sport. Can I use the set I bought for my current Z on the new one? I'd hate to spend money on a new set and don't want to go through the hassle of selling current set, which only has about 5K miles on it.

Thanks for your expertise--I'm getting conflicting answers from BMW parts and Tirerack.

The only difference between m sport and non m sport is bumpers, trim and slightly lower suspension. All z4 wheels are interchangeable between the two as they're the same car.

One related caveat is the TPMS differs in some cases. I tried to buy a set of wheels, tpms and tires from an '09 E89 owner and he informed me that they were not compatible with my '12 model.

I don't know what the cutoff is and whether '11 to '12/'13 has the same TPMS

He is correct - wheel electronic TPMS, the triggers, and contol unit are different as well. As noted by the wheel TPMS PN roll up.
