Anyone installed inlets and/or outlets on Z4?`
I am waiting on a set of Hexon RR600s and am looking to include inlets and outlets to the install. I have found that the MMP aluminum outlets will not work on the Z4 (may work with fabrication). Anyone have success with an outlet install? Anyone have experience with any of the available inlets on the Z4?

I have ordered MMP inlets and they are just like VTT inlets, so VTT inlets are confirmed by BuraQ. For outlets, as you mentioned, they wont work. MMP was offering full silicone outlets for $170 when you buy with inlets, but he announced that he won't be able to get this thing done because they had some problems with manufacturer. He already removed the item from his website, but they were going to work in Z4 ( I already talked to him)
"The main issue he had was since the IC is closer the 3" pipe needed to be cut too short to adapt to his IC. With the silicone outlets you can just cut back with scissors to the length you need as long as the OD of the intercooler connection is 3" which is what the stock IC is" But VTT offers full silicone outlets that may work. Not confirmed tho.

Thanks for feedback. I went ahead and ordered the MMP inlets and was going to order the VTT outlet but ran into another issue. I currently have a Wagner EVO1 Performance that has OEM style 3" connectors and VTT told me that their outlets were not compatible. I was going to upgrade to a Wagner EVO2 Competition that has 2.75" inlet but the VTT outlets fit either a 3" or 2.5" intercooler inlet. What intercooler is recommended for the Z4 that has either a 3" or 2.5" inlet?

I am the one that tried to install the MMP outlets with out success. The photos are details are listed here if any one is curious.
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...209523&page=10 I looked up the stock part number on real oem and found the 1 series shares the same pipes, but not 3 series. Lucky for me my buddy has a 1 series so I sold him my MMP outlets for cash + his stock pipe. I plan to go custom/ modified oem pipe in all metal. I also plan to wrap these pipes in gold heat tape since they run so close to the exhaust manifold. For inlets I'm running VTT which are working our great. Install was really easy and performance gain is noticeable. I put down 405whp, 443wtq on 93. I'd like to add my dyno was on Cobb drop in filter only. If you are doing VTT inlets I would suggest going with some intake upgrade. OP i see that you already have BMS DCI. :thump: Since the dyno I went with Afe Pro 5R which was also a great improvement. We have to do some heat testing and see if its worth it to wrap the bottom of the heat shield with gold heat tape. I have a full extra I'll keep you guys posted. -Jake

Take a look at the thread I posted, and look at the coolant lines for clearance. The 35is have a different reservoir. You may need to move yours to get an off the shelf outlet to fit.
Our oem pipe is "charge air induction tract 11657568239" and is used on e89,e82, e88 only. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=13_1308 How ever the 3 series uses "11657556551" http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=13_1185 I believe the overall lengths are different so I would be cautious. I ended up ordering the Wagner EVO 2 Competition FMIC and the VTT Outlets. Tony is going to make me a 2.75" adapter so the outlets will connect to the Wagner FMIC.
Not sure when my RR600s are coming but I will do all mods at same time.

I am still waiting on the VTT outlet and Hexon turbos. Should be another 2-3 weeks. The Wagner EVO2 Competition is top notch quality. While it is not yet installed, I currently have the EVO1 Perofrmance installed and fitment is excellent and even attaches to the factory tubing with OEM style connections.

I'm in the same boat with Evo I. I was planning to mod am oem pipe so ensure proper fit. But I'm still waiting for my buddy to do his install so I can get his oem pipe.
Considering labor for custom work vs plug and play with better performing equipment. Please keep us posted. Thanks, Jake |

I am still waiting on the RR600s and the VTT outlets. I decided to take the car to the drags trip to see what it would do and broke my driveshaft on the first pass so I am waiting on that too! I went ahead and ordered Rogue Poly RTABs and APEX ARC-8 17" and some NT05Rs.

This part is the bearing housing of the drive shaft which connects to the differential. Wheel hop damages the bearing seat and then it eventually starts to slip out and just spin freely This is a pic of it being disassembled when being connected as it couldn't be removed any other way without damaging the differential This is what it looks like on the inside and the damage This type of damage is prone to N54 DCT cars when drag racing them where wheel hop occurs most.. It is perfectly ok in roll racing as long as there is no wheel hop |

I ended up buying a stock diff carrier asm from a salvage yard for $700 since I was having trouble finding someone local to install the MFactory LSD in my housing. Diff carrier should be installed this week and my mechanic said he should get to the RR600, etc. install in about 3 weeks.

You don't think we're going to let you just drop that comment without telling us how you decided on Mfactory ... what are your thoughts here? After all, and at a minimum, I'd much rather read something interesting here than another, "what's your favorite door sill color for the Z4" thread ...
