Thank you. There is no influence on the visibility of the third brake light - but it could have if you'd have a KTM X-Bow...

I don't know when I'll find the time to finish the PhiLCI-///M-Turnsignals. But this project is not dead yet!

I've not installed the JL-motoring spoiler so far because the fitment is sh...
It was not possible to use the regular tape for fitment. I did not wanted to install the spoiler with window-glue on my trunk, because this would mean a re-painting at removal. As I want to have matching numbers w/o repainting, I ordered a used trunk in space grey at ebay.de. Unfortuntaly there occured a damage during the Transport, so that I am waiting for the insurance at the moment to pay the damager. Afterwards the spoiler will be fitted on the other trunk.

I'll Keep you informed...

Meeting with a M4:

We've made a small comparison on the Autobahn. Good results for my small Z4 -> from 80 to 260 km/h no winner.

Latest update:
JL Carbon fibre trunk spoiler lip installed onto a 2nd (new) trunk.
Due to the very very very very poor standard fitment of the JL Spoiler, I've bought a new trunk, because a lot of adjustment must be done to fit the spoiler. My "naked" OEM trunk will be re-installed when I'll sell the car anytime.

Next mods:
Lightweight front splitter (with TÜV technical approval = street legal for Germany)

Hi folks,

in November I bought my 35i at Kohl Automobile (AC Schnitzer) - almost fully equipped (except M-Package and TV-function).

I love this car and the design, but some small changes must occur...

First step were AC Schnitzer lowering springs:

Because of no insurance coverage in the winter weather w/o winter-tires in Germany, I used the OEM 19" rims with 235/35 R19 and 265/30 R19 winter tires.
In addition I installed 24 mm H&R spacers:

Next steps:

- front-bumper improvement (already occured today but no pictures available yet) - perhaps M-front bumper installation -> I already bought it but I love my beautifications at the actual front so I am not sure anymore
- 19" BMW wheels for the summer-season-setup (design almost decided) - done
- JB4 - done
- BMW Performance kidneys - done
- LCI headlamps or white LED angel eyes
- LCI side markers - done

Cheers,
Phil

Update with summer wheels post 12.

Great pictures! Love it.

Some updates from my Z4.

Lightweight Performance spoiler sword with enhanced mounting angle:

Self engineered side skirts (still the prototype at the picture):

I will offer a small batch series from the side skirts and also a rear attachment part for Europe, soon.

Next project:
BBK

Update:

I've test-assembled my new self engineered BBK today:

I really like this BBK! I am doing this project together with a friend of mine. We are both upgrading the same calipers but using different rotors due to different wheels. We test fitted the brakes with my 3d-printed-adapter brackets on my friends car. This we did to check the fitment of my adapters. Next step will be the production of the steel adapter brackets.

This is the solution of my friend, which has even bigger rotors than I have:

My question:
Which color would be the best for the calipers on my car?
Discreet color like anthracite, sporty red or something different?
What do you guys think?

Very cool stuff! Why not use aluminum brackets?

Also, any plans for the rear? I believe the rear brake on the F10 M5 uses an electronic parking brake like ours. I wonder if it would retrofit? Only question would be whether you can get it to work with a smaller rotor, as the rear rotors on that car are 396 mm!

The F10 M5 does use an electronic parking brake, as mentioned, and therefore does not have a "big brake" but rather uses small little calipers like our own, just painted to match. Even the multi-thousand ceramic option comes with less then desirable rears.

nuebbes - Those look like the M3/M5 brakes... been wondering recently if the F80/82 M3/4 ceramic brake calipers will be PnP for us. The base M3/4 uses the F30 M Performance brakes which has been shown multiple times on this thread to be PnP. This leads me to believe the F80 ceramic calipers (looks like the gold ones posted above) may be PnP, and without having to spend $8,000 just put in cast iron rotors instead of ceramic. Thoughts?

In Germany we need technical approvals from a technical authority for each non-serial-Change which is done at the car, and I would get no technical approval for any aluminum brackets, even if I'd choose 6061 T6.
If I would have no technical approval, the insurance wouldn't pay in case of an accident.

...
Initially we also planned a solution for the rear brakes, but we've not found any working solution Fitting with 19" wheels, yet. Even the M4 19" rims from my friend are too small for the M5 396 mm brakes:

This would be a very nice, good and cheap brake - but unfortunately only for 20"!

Smaller rotors will not fit to the Z4 in combination with the M5 calipers as there is no space for the caliper brackets. We will go on searching now for further solutions. One possible solution I have in mind, but I've found no parts for testing yet.
In the meantime we will install perforated-rotors in normal size (324 mm), so that there will be no difference in the design of the rotors.

They won't be p&p. The base M4 brake has the 340x30mm-///M-Sport 4-piston-calipers w/o brackets and it has 380x30 mm rotors. That means that the svivel bearing is different from the normal F30.
In addition, the ceramic rotors from the M4 have 400 mm, while the cast iron rotors of the M5 only have 396 mm. So custom-adapter brackets are required.

What we did not tested is if the svivel bearings of the M4 fit to the Z4. In this case the oem adapter brackets could fit with standard M5 calipers. Yes, there is also a difference in the calipers (Standard vs. Ceramic).

The golden calipers on the pictures are ceramic calipers from the M5 with iron cast rotors and brake pads.

I am not doing the front lip. This is made by Lightweight Performance (a well known German BMW tuner).
I use for the side skirts the same material and I even buy the material from Lightweight so that it matches 100% to my side skirts.
But I have an idea regarding the front lip - pm me for further information.

Hey folks,

I did some PS to find the perfect caliper color:

Pure White

BMW ///M-Sport blue

BMW PP yellow/Gold

copper/red

Red

Grey

Silver

Anthracite

I like grey/silver/anthracite, but these colors are also a bit boring.
Such a brake like I will install should have a contrast to the car color, in my opinion.

Red is beautiful and very sporty in my opinion, but every 18 years old with his 75 hp Corolla takes red to paint it's calipers. On the other side, all the real sports cars have red calipers. In addition, red would match with the tail lights.

I start to like more and more the pure white white/creme color. This is discreet but is a contrast and matches to my interior design.

Other Colors are OEM BMW colors and would match the actual BMW style. These would also look very good.

OMG - such a difficult decision...

What do you think?

I like the gold, and copper options. These seem the most sophisticated.

I think it would look good to paint the calipers in the same blue as on the roundel.

Thank you for your opinions.

It is such a difficult decision.

This rendering is my actual favorite:

Pure White - fits perfect to the interior design.
In my opinion this color is a good contrast color to space grey but still sophisticated.

I've requested my paint shop to paint me a sample piece in pure white metallic.
We will see if I will paint the caliper in this color afterwards...

The side skirts are finished:

Some z4-board members from Germany already installed my side skirts...

e.G. painted in black:

I am also developing some rear skirts at the moment to complete the set.
The following pictures are from a early stage prototype w/o any radius and not the latest design:

The M5-big brakes are not installed yet, but I hope to find the time soon.
