New Brush for cleaning Style 293 MultiSpoke Alloys

So since having the car two months now I seem to have spent most of my time cleaning the bloomin alloy wheels.

Now I admit I am a bit fanatical about how clean my wheels are, and I insist that the back (inside) rim of my wheels is almost as clean as the outside facing edge.

This has proved tricky since getting the Z4 with its stupidly crazy 20 spoke 293 style wheels. Which, while look great are a SOD to clean.

Not only that they dust up SO easily (anyone fixed this yet, either with alternate pads or waxing the hell out of the wheels so it doesn't stick?)

Well the other day while browsing through a discount store (£1 shop for those here in the UK) I spotted a 'toilet brush' - and thought for £1 I'd give it a go.

Its not too stiff that it will scratch and fits through the two widest spoke gaps to allow access to the back of the wheel. Brilliant for £1!

I've looked at the Meguires brush and others that are similarly long, but the bristles are just too soft and don't actually remove any baked on grime. So this is the perfect cheap alternative.

It can't get next to the brake caliper, but I roll the car one 1/2 turn of the wheels forward to get that area.

Sorted.

Do you have to flush after cleaning??
Sorry, I couldn't resist. I use a 3'' paintbrush but your solution seems faster, thanks for sharing, I 'll give it a try.

I'd be careful here- once you demonstrate proficiency with a toilet brush , you may find yourself getting selected by the lady of the house for "other duties as assigned"!

I am really liking the Style 276 wheels, easy to clean and maybe it's just me but I am finding the brake dust on this car to be far less than my other BMW (OEM pads)

That's a pretty good idea actually, given the number of spokes! I have the 276's and they're a snap to clean, including the inside rim.

The multi spokes are great, pain to clean. Such a pain I'm planning to change out the 296's.

I think I would hang myself if I had to clean those wheels. Thankfully the 326m's are easy.

I find the multi-spoke wheels easy to clean.

Spray wheel cleaner, this loosens dirt, makes it easy to clean off, remove dirt with a 12" long cleaner with a microfiber material on end, so as not to scratch anything.

Takes all of 2 minutes per wheel. To recap: bend ass over, spray wheel, wipe dirt out. How difficult is that?

We have folks ready to hang themselves and switch wheels?

What is all the fuss??

Really! I have posted a couple of times that the Daytona master wheel brush works great and then follow BlueZ4AZ's instructions. You just have to keep them up. I wouldn't drive around for a month and expect cleaning any wheel a breeze. I clean mine everytime I wash the car, about once a week. C'mon guys, I'm a female and I can handle it!
