The badges are a little cheap looking compared to the rest of the car. They could have done more that put metallic stickers on it, that's for sure!

The Alcantara is something that both Ferrari and Porsche (may be others) use in the racing versions of their typical street cars. I believe the Alcantara is supposed to be a synthetic suede leather that a bit more durable for those applications

These are some photos that I could find quick. I'm sure there's better ones out there. I believe Porsche's latest GT3 is completely covered in the stuff. Ferrari takes it a step further with the diamond stitching pattern. Kind'a tacky except for those that love racing stuff. No doubt BMW had that in mind with this special model.

Alcantara makes it look like someone threw up in the interior. Such a tacky material to look at.

The Mille Miglia used to be a great race, run by legends such as Stirling Moss in the Mercedes. Later, when in periculis audax turned unpopular and speeding cars were banned from public roads, Mille Miglia has become a "rally," then a festival, an opportunity to see cars that has contributed to our history. Finally, today, the name of Mille Miglia seems to be used to sell a batch of run-of-the -mill cars, dressed up with cosmetics such as red stitching. C'est la vie.

Tacky is definetely the optimum word. Porsche and Ferrari's versions actually make the Z4's look good by comparison, if you can believe that. Just when I have gotten over the is's hideous rear bumper, Bmw really out does itself!

Nice paint job and wheels and yeah, i like the seat design if not the material - why not real suede on a car of this value??
Suede is not spill/stain resistant, it fades, it wears out and gets shiny spots (think how your driver-side entrance/exit wear marks would look after a couple years).
Synthetic suede (Alcantara/Ultrasuede) is everything that suede isn't.

I'm also pretty sure that if the description said "Suede seats", but they still had pictures of Alcantara, no one on here could tell a difference, and probably not even feel a difference. I've heard that synthetic suede even weighs less than the real stuff ; )

PS - you slide around in your seat less when cornering in alcantara vs leather

I'm liking the paint and the wheels. The interior I would need to see in person, might grow on you.

Would have been sweet if it was a manual transmission. A limited edition, vintage throwback roadster with an automatic just feels wrong. And the 6MT would have really made it unique from all of the other is'

Thanks, I stand corrected on the suede.

But those floormats - they just don't match?

that's partly because its not plain light silver ...

so is this going to become the era of matte finishes?

are they harder to maintain? are they as durable?

1. The color is the traditional racing color for Germany (silver or bare metal).

2. I lived with Alcantara seats and steering wheel in my '04 330i ZHP. Zero problems, no discernible wear in 36K miles, loved the feel. A plus for this limited edition IMHO.
