Trunk Release Issue

Hi Everyone, Was hoping to get some advice for my e89 Z4.

Previously when my car was locked I was able to approach the trunk, press the BMWroundel (as long as my key was close) and it would open. Now it seems my car has lost this ability. Even when the car is unlocked if I press the roundel it will not open. I have to physically press the unlock on my keyfob and then press the roundel. Only then will it open.

I have tried the usual fix of replacing the battery or trying my spare keyfob but no luck.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
