First glitch?

SO this is minor but I thought I'd throw it out there anyway. Over the last couple of weeks I've been randomly getting an alert that reads "Oil below minimum levels, continuing to operate may damage vehicle" or something to that effect. Took it in to be topped off last weekend (first oil change is a month away) and they said it was only 3/4 of a quart low.

Well it happened again this morning while my wife was on her way to the gym. Actually, this seems to be the only time it happens as I haven't actually seen the alert myself. So before I take it in again I'm wondering if this could be the result of her not letting the car warm up a bit in the morning. Her gym trips are the only use it get's during the week.. Thoughts?

Which would be right on..., I'm at 5K now. However, it was just topped off last Friday and the 3rd alert was this morning.

if u have the idrive u know where to check for the level?

it can be either a sensor or a leak

No, i haven't tried to check the level but I assume it's still full from last week. I figure it's a sensor issue, was just curious if I could blame it on the wife for darting off in the morning.

FYI. You have two turbos that require oil or they destroy themselves. If you can't verify the oil level through the idrive then take the warning seriously. If you have a leak and run those turbos with no oil, at best you will shorten their lifetime severely, at worst you could be in for a big bill that warranty won't cover. My 335i had a leak before I traded it in. If you have a low level put in a quart and drive it to the dealership. Better safe than sorry. Good news is leaks are covered by warranty.

nope she's a Garage Queen (the car not the wife) and it's flat as can be. However she does report that it's happening pretty much in the same spot as she's just coming to the top of a hill in our neighborhood.

Thanks for the warning Jay, there's no leak as far as i can tell and the Alert is sporadic. Again, I haven't seen it myself and I'm the primary driver.

Wraith,

I had a similar issue back in May of this year. Turns out I had a faulty sensor and it was replaced on the spot and the car reprogrammed. Took about 1 1/2 hours.
