long cranking issue

Hi guys,

Here are some updates about the long cranking issue I had few weeks ago. I hope this is helpful information for other forum member who has the same issue.

I had long cracking issue for few weeks after dealer replaced the O2 sensor due to failure. Few days ago I took the car to the local bmw dealer. First, they replace the hpfp but the issue still there after I pick it up and it gets worse everyday. Two weeks later I drop off my car at dealer again and this time they replaced 6 updated fuel injectors and spark plugs.

Now the issue is gone and car runs better than new.

I think he is referring to ignition sound when starting the car.

How many miles was on the car?

Seriously? Cranking is the term used to turn the crankshaft to start the engine . Before starter motors you would use a crank handle. A bar that attached directly to the crankshaft to turn the engine manually to start it.

Thanks for the info OP it just goes to show its not just the HPFP that causes this.

I know what it means. His post said cracking in two places. It looks like he edited one. It seems my post was not clear in that I was asking cranking as a correction of what was probably autocorrect snafu in his post.

Last week i had the long cranking back to back on my 2011 35i (3/2010 build), then again once this week. road trip next week and didnt want hpfp issues on the road so today I installed new one. 3 hours including a break to mop bleeding knuckles. $279 (20% off retail) and its running so much better. 34,400 miles.
