Seat heater

Can anyone explain exactly what this is. It is listed as a Standard Feature in the Z4 catalogue:

"Seat heating for driver and front passenger seat"

I pick up my new 2009 Z4 tomorrow, but forgot to ask the dealer what this feature is today. I know it's not "Heated Seats" as that is an "option".

Thanks,

Exactly what it says. They are heaters that are in the seat. Useful in places other than Chandler, AZ. LOL...

I could not find a reference to anything other than the optional heated seats in the PDF brosure I have. They may be refering to the heat/AC vents on the lower center corners of the dash that point towards the seats. They are handy in the summer to blow A/C onto your legs/lap with the top down and would be useful for heat in cooler days with the top down.

I see the little vents now. That must be them.

Lets work on this together: "SEAT" "HEATERS" OR "WARMERS" means heat in seats! wow.
The OP mentioned he saw "seat heaters" standard and "heated seats" optional. I think we all know the functionality of the heated seats option. I have never heard of any other type of seat heaters. Although, you can get ventilated (cooled) seats in the 5, 7, & X5.

If you downloaded the catalogue from one of the sticky links on this forum, it is a German market catalogue which is why it shows the heated seats as standard when they are not in the US.

That explains it. I was referencing both the German cataloge, which said "Seat heating" as standard, as well as the information I saw online at Edmunds.com, which listed "Heated Seats" as an option. "Heated Seats" is the normal terminology here in the US.

One was listed as an option, the other was not, they had slightly didfferent names, so it made me think these were 2 separate items.

There was no US Market Catalogue available a few weeks ago, so the only download available on BMWUSA.com was the German "Catalogue".

I just checked and the US "Brochure" is available for download. "Brochure" being the correct term here in the US. Again, with the different terminology.
