Talking Z4 vs new 2012 SLK

Just saw some of the latest spyshots. If this is the best Benz can do then BMW dont have anything to be worried about when it comes to design aesthetics...

Looks like it's being modeled after the SLS?

Not attractive in the least... it's why I sold my MB, they've lost their aesthetic as far as i'm concerned. BTW, in the first shot, what is that behind it on the bank? Is it an un-camoed SLK or an SL? either way it's also ugly.

Wow, Never been a big fan of Mercedes but I did like a few of their models. After they bought Chrysler it was going down the drain. Looks like they are having a hard time recovering from it. I hope for them that these spy shots are hiding some of the beauty of the car although I can hardly imagine how...

That's with the big nose sticking out of many new cars these days (including the SLS)?

That's a trend we can live without. I'm glad the Z4 has a cute front end.

New SLK:

Peugeot SR-1 concept car:

Jaguar XF:

Out of these designs, the Peugeot actually looks nice. The SLS looks reminds me of the 350Z with a big grill. Not a big fan of the XF neither.

The SLS is beautiful - no doubt about it. Love that design and the industrial metal all over!

As for the new SLK - it seems to have taken a huge back step. I used to think that the model before the current SLK was boxy and ugly, then the current model came out which curved out the rear end, and put the F1 style front nose on it. My GF has an SLK as do my folks, and I can say, they do look HOT when they have the sports pack on them, with the graphite wheels etc.

The one in the picture above looks terrible - you can see the front end will look pretty crap compared with current SLKs. It looks nothing like the SLS, and unless it too has gull wing doors and and is lowered and wider, its going to look like a 2010 SLK ran itself into the wall and squashed its nose!

Here is what I think is a fact. Juliane Blasi is a brilliant designer. Even one year after owning my z4, every time I go out to the garage, the car design makes me smile. Its brilliant. I actually like it better than the z8 which I thought was one of the most beautiful designs. I wonder what other designs she is working on. She has a tremendous eye for style. Almost every day I get comments on the car in traffic about how beautiful the car looks. I think the car is a classic in the making.

The SLK is a POS, the SLS is badass, the Peugeot SR-1 is sort of OK from the right angle, and I think the Jag would make an excellent farm vehicle, for hauling melons or fruit crates.

The SLS did a great job of updating the original design as well as honoring the original Gullwing's s legendary status.

Coming from someone who just came from an SLK55 AMG, I don't like the "SLS" direction the car is taking. There is now only one MB that I go goo-goo over and that's the SLR McLaren, and that's really McLaren design than it is MB.

Thanks for posting the link.

I am delighted with my Zed4.

New SLK has no soul or character. Just too plain jane. Since their involvement with Chysler MB has gone downhill on the design end. What is up with their new grill theme? They all look like they have a minivan grill.

That would be the new XJ your talking about. Not the XF.
