BMW - screen removal
Hello,
Like my BMW Z4 35i but recently I noticed some issues with CIC screen. Everything works perfectly appart from there were some scratches and screen become squeeky when opens and closes. I tried to fix scratches by using Novus plastic polisher and I am very happy with the results but it's impossible to get to the corners properly without damaging the frame... Basically I removed anti-clare coating (not a big deal even at sunlight) but couldn't reach to the corners. In oder to do a proper job here I feel like I need to remove the screen, dissasemble it and then finish with Novus and seal everything with non-glare screen protector. I mean I already did all that, results are excelent but as I couldnt reach corners screen protector doesnt stick in the corners properly. At the same time I want to put some silicone lubricant in order to fix sqeeky screen... To make long story shorter - how to remove screen and dissasemble it? |

Managed to do it. Its not that complicated.
These are the steps: Remove trim, remove front vents, remove front speaker grill -> you get access to the 4 screws that hold screen in place. Screen is Sharp LQ088K9LA02 and its replaceable. I did mine with low-speed Dremel and put custom-cut AG screen protector over it. A lot of dust, insects etc got into folding mechanism. Afrer cleaning it and lube it with silicone its not sqeeky anymore. |
