Has anyone ordered a 2012 35is, yet...

I am having several dealerships check their allocation to see if there are any out there to put my specs and name on it. MSRP is $69,325 (including the $875 freight). Invoice is approx. $63,800. What price offer would be acceptable?

Go to one of the many auto pricing websites and research the answers for your area. For convertibles, there's a big difference in what a dealer expects for margin between southern California and New England. I've also bought all my roadsters in February, which may mean they're willing to accept less than they might in June.

I typically expect to pay about $500 over invoice for a model in average demand. Dealers seem to want at least $1,000. The difference is why I allow time for negotiation.

I ordered and had delivered my 2012 Z4 35is about a month ago. I leased it and it replaced a M3 convertible.

Unless you want a much better looking car and hate the restriction of a metal roof over your head all the time.

Here is a link comparing the Z4 to the SLK and Audi, you may have seen it before ... still the link is to the German TV Station Deutsche Welle (DW) can also be reached on dw.de ... anyway here is the link ===>CLICK to Open it

I hope it opens for you, they often show the latest models that appear on the European market. Quite interesting to get another point of view the European point. They first talk about the SLK, then the Audi and last but not least the Z4... No need to talk about who is the first choice of course we all know it's the Z4.

DW can be added to your TV line up for $5-/month up here in Canada, have no idea what it might be in the USA. The programs are all commercial free and as such are a pleasure to watch. The car program "Drive it - The German Auto Magazine" airs weekly and I love it for the foregoing program and many other programs.

Thanks Rolf

Excellent comparison. The Merc was definitely a loser - ugly, lack of sports car appeal and basically you stogy bingo-set mobile. I didn't like the Audi much better. The Z4 was the clear winner and so many levels.
