Puh! Finaly i solved this problem. After 7 hours in the garage:-)

This is what I did:

- opend up the interior and got the subs out.
- covered every inch of metal, where the subs fit, with asphalt damping.
- added dampingwool under the subs
- last but not least, I got an older Y cable from BMW (that one for the old Iphone plug), added an adapter to Iphone 5+ and the sound in now prefect.

Theres a totaly different sound and feel in the car! Even outside theres now noises what so ever.

Im really really pleased.

Now I just need to sell the Earthquake SWS 8Xi speakers witch are 2 OHM and factory is 8 OHM..

Thanks for all help! I got a lot of pictures during the job, so just PM me for any questions.

Here is some pics of the work Ive done:

The hardest part was splitting the plastic on the rollbars. The blue metallic stuff is dampingmatt.

There way to much bass and some tones sounds like the bass is wrenged (dont know a better word for it in english:-)). I sounds like I have turned on the bass to the max and turned on super loudness. I have reset all settings in the car with no result. I have also turned down the bass and the low frequences in the equalizer, and it gets better but its still to much.

I have allways been a fan of the HiFi proff in BMW, but now Im really disapointed. The spound is hard and the base is out of controll. There some kind of resonanse aswell thats really anoying. Lower base tunes sounds like they are breaking the car apart..

I belive that I can hear a noice from the subs at low volume aswell. The subs appear to be out of faze.

Questions:
- Could someone mixed +/-? Perhaps a resonance can make it appear as out of faze?

- Is this the way youre cars are aswell or is there anyting wrong with my system?

- The problem is there with FM radio, CD and Iphone interface..
The base system and speakers are good, but the frequency response is all over the place. I actually recorded one with a measurement mic when I test drove a i28. I believe the root of the problem is that they added more speakers in addition to the basic system on a pretty much random basis, as opposed to replacing the cheap system. No wonder some frequency responses are doubled.

Mine will arrive in a couple of weeks and I will use measurements to come up with a good base EQ setting to compensate. I could try to use the recording I have to do a first pass if you suffer too much.

I can assure you there is plenty punch and clarity in those speakers, they just need some EQ correction. I actually liked the e89 premium stereo better than the HK that is in the F30 and W212 'vert.

To a point. I installed a audioson bit 8.9 - did not hook up the center channel, and things sound better - but still not great. manipulating the crossovers added the biggest gain. Tweeters still sound harsh to me - but I listen to electrostatics at home - not a fair comparison. Once you get above 40 mph with the top down - everything gets washed out regardless... First speakers to get replaced (soon) will be the tweets/mids...

Let me see if I can print out the config I ended up with - don't know if that's an option...

Thanks just the +/- Bass, treble, equaliser, fade settings would be good. Nice to have a professional's ear on this!
