AUX function for our stereos / connection to smartphone
I have an Android phone and wish to play songs from it, do I just need a 2-headed male audio jack wire, one plugged into the phone's headphone input and the other into the car's input and leave the car's USB input unplugged? Is it that simple? I assume that bluetooth remains unaffected and still works for phone functions and any songs I play has to be manually selected from my phone? TIA.

I just play over the bluetooth connection. Phone functions will still work, usually by briefly pausing playback to play your alert tone and a full pause for calls. That's assuming you have the same bluetooth integration I've got...

+ 1. You can stream all audio from the phone via bluetooth. I use youtube or sound cloud primarily. Too bad the video won't transfer though

That's because you two have iDrive and tranquility doesn't (I'm guessing). In that case you have to use the aux setting to stream music from a phone just like he says. Why this is so is one of the great unsolved BMW mysteries!

You should do what I did, I installed a bluetoothe receiver for music while my car day Bluetooth but it only worked with phone calls. However adding a Bluetooth reviver and plugging it into the aux I can now stream Pandora. Take a look here to see what I bought: http://e89.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1177523
Now whe I get I go the car my phone automatically connects to both the cars Bluetooth for calls and go the receiver for streaming. It feels like a factory deal. Questions? Let me know. |
