Brake lines

So I just ordered brake parts for my car, including the BMW Performance Brake Kit. I started this morning to order from GetBMWParts.com but through a strange set of events, the price went up about $100 while in my cart along with a corresponding $100 shipping charge for a one-state hop. I ended up order from a Nebraska dealer and got them for just over $1100 shipped.

. I'm wondering if anyone has swapped in braided brake lines? I've dug around and found a mixed bag. I wrote Ben Liaw to see what he might have. Funny part is some folks list 4-lines, some list 6-lines ... confusing.

Anyone running braided lines care to share what they have, that would be great. If Ben @ Rogue has them, I'll order from him since anything he does is well thought out.

Thanks,

Filippo

I have braided lines on my E46 and I had them on a Camaro I drove years ago... On the E46 there wasn't a massive difference, but the pedal was a little firmer. Small enough of a difference that the brake fluid flush I did at the same time could have done it. On my Camaro the difference was pretty significant. Based on only those 2 examples my thoughts would be to leave them alone unless they were coming off anyway and you could get them inexpensively. Often times you find specials where you get free braided lines with purchase of something else at UUC for example. BMW's factory installed lines are plenty strong that it's not a worthwhile upgrade otherwise. Your mileage may vary of course...

Rogue Engineering offers them for the e89. Give them a try.

Ben told me they don't (he owns Rogue). I need line measurements and they'll make a set.

Well I told Ben that. In fact wmandra had the same front brake kit I have coming in. But I suspect they didn't keep the measurements. I was hoping someone had a set of lines around and could tell me the measurements. I don't have my car, and it will make its way to the tuner with a pile of parts (hopefully brake lines being in the parts pile).

Soooooo ... if anyone has measurements of the brake line length, would really appreciate their being posted ...
