Satellite Radio in 2010 35i

I'm now looking at a 2010 35i with Nav. It does not have premium audio.

Is it true that Sat Radio is a dealer activatable option (i.e. just software)?

Thanks.

No, I believe you need the receiver installed in the car. If the car isn't "satellite ready" there's nothing to activate.

But is it possible to install the factory Sat receiver after the fact? Not an aftermarket one -- the iDrive integrated one. A dealer install item?

Garage List
I have a 2010 35i with Nav but not Premium Audio, and it does includes Sat radio.

It may just need to be activated by calling SiriusXM.

Yes, it can definitely be installed after delivery along with software so it shows up in the iDrive. Cost you around $6-700

I just had this conversation with my SA last week. I have an 2010 with Idrive and premium sound. The window sticker stated Satellite ready. He told me it is just updating the software and he quoted me total cost $525.

Hmmm... the car I'm looking at tomorrow doesn't have "Sat Radio Prep" on the window sticker. I guess I may be out of luck. I'll ask the dealer tomorrow.
