28i Dowpipes

Hi,

Feeling excited like its xmas eve - got car booked for Wagner downpipes to be fitted on Friday this week.

Looking forward for the extra 14 horses - and should then be similar performance to an stock 35i upto 100Mph

Only concern is the increase possibility of petrol smell and exhaust drown

Well from an EX 92 335i driver - real life experience it is nearly as quick - from going down the drag strip I was only .4 secs slower than an Alpina 3.4 Z4. On the same day. The only other Z4's there were 3.0is which were about an second slower, than mine.

Looking at dyno's and comparing power to weight ratio I believe the 28i that's running will out steam around 100mph were the 35i will have the legs.

Its like saying an 35i with tune and downpipes will be simular performance to an 35is (stock).

Enclosed is an Dyno of an 28i,35i & 35is

Also around the track, the 28i standard since is lighter by 100kg has simular times around the track.

What I have found for comparison reasons is comparing the 328i and 335i - like for like cars but different engines.

Motortrend Figure-8

328i 0:25.90
335i 0:25.70

I do not believe it will be quicker - just simular

I used to race as a pro. and I remember that my mechanic guy told me every 7kg that you reduce means like +1hp ( I think the reduced weight/hp ratio might be different with each car tho )

so BIGBOYQ might be right with his tought ( -100kg=14hp ) but N54 has much much much more potential thats for sure

That is my current issue - at the drag stip I was suffering from air intake temperature - looking for ways to reduce the temperature as its affecting my performance.
