zooming around laguna seca yesterday..

need new brakes after yesterday. They lasted 3 track days and 5000 miles..DCT started acting funny at the end of the day and threw some codes.. It didn't like cresting after the bridge before turn 2 and shifting. JB4 and 100 octane with DCI hung pretty well in the straights with some much faster cars.

Wow, cold... I'm not able to stay below 250 under hard driving @ an ambient of 80-85 degrees. Does it depends on my standard 35i BMW oil quality? Castrol 5-30 i believe... Do you use a diferent oil?

You must have oil coolers. I do 250 with in town stop n go driving. I saw 295 with 65 ambient last weekend (track day). Your standard issue oil is a premium grade and I say there's no additional thermal benefit with any different oil until you get heat conduction improvement with colloidal graphites or molys.....and additives are a no-no with our cars.

OP- G R E A T sharing! Congrats.

standard 5w-30... 35is has better cooling and the car stays pretty cool from oil temp perspective. I also had maxcool turned on on my JB4.. brakes on the other hand is a different story. my rotors were glowing especially on pics after turn 2.

I thought they weren't that bad either, until I threw on some real tires . . . regardless, glad you had a ton of fun and what a great looking car.

I have the michelin pilot super sports on my M3 and Pirelli Trofeos on my Ferrari.. the track is definitely a good way to burn off the RFT's though..

What speed did you achieve by turn 2?
I saw 120mph riding with Scott Pruett in a Dinan M3 last year. I'd guess your JBZ4 iS got on the straight at 40-50mph, hit 100 by the bridge and 120 before braking for turn 2.

indicated about 125mph but the speedo is probably pretty off.. I also didn't lift over the crest and the is gets a little light and scary..
