rear view mirror upgrade
My rear view mirror is not a auto dim one with no option. it's no good when a truck come behind me.... so, i need to upgrade this mirror
can i just buy auto dim mirror then install it? does it function without issue? 2012 z4 35is |

The mirror connects to the alarm, CAS, and Comfort Access
I have not seen a BMW car yet that had wires/plugs laying around for an unused feature. Your best bet is to first look for wires/plugs used in your current mirror. |

That at least used to be totally common in the US models anyway. BMW would equip all cars headed here with the one version wiring harness that accommodated any and all options instead of installing a specific one for only what the car was ordered with. I have no idea if they still do that though...

Manual dimming of rear-view
If you twist the "clown nose" (the red bulb on the bottom of the mirror that flashes to show that the alarm is on), you can manually dim the mirror.

Does anyone else like me, mainly see only sky in the rear view mirror with the roof down. I can barely see what's behind me.
Never a problem with other open top cars I have had. |
