What have you programmed as shortcuts?

I have these:
  • Home Phone
  • Office Phone
  • Map View (perspective view, direction of travel, north on top, etc)
  • Day/Night
  • Split Screen
What have you programmed for yours? Want to see if I'm missing any quick shortcuts.

Page 21 of the manual describes how to set these.

Garage List
1 - Open/close display
2 - CD/Music Collection
3 - Sat Radio
4 - FM
5 - iPod (don't use it these days as I lost the iPod...)
6 - Home as nav destination ("get me home" button)

I mostly use 1 and 6.

I could have used your number 6 ( get me home ) button a lot when I was a single lad living in Connecticut, if they had the technology back then. There were a few friday nights when this would have come in mighty handy...

For me only open/close display as I mostly want it closed. Having read a few threads here I will probably programme a few more like the night/day mode on the satnav and 'home.

Cdeslandes - not sure why you have CD/Music programmed as you can do this from the top right button on the steering wheel.

I did this as well - If I recall correctly, it was because if you use any of the other buttons... the screen opens automatically.

I like to leave the screen closed as much as possible.

That's strange as my display does not open when I change between radio and music collection using the steering wheel button

Yep... I tried changing radio/music collection via the steering wheel buttons & "Open Sesame" the screen popped up. Perhaps there is an option I can change somewhere preventing this... but I haven't found it.

I have not yet received my Z4, but I am wondering as well, why do you need to keep on closing and opening the iDrive... does it interfere with your driving visibility? When I checked at the show room, I did not see any problem with it open.. or was I too excited to get the Z4, nothing seemed to bother me???

Land Shark - I have the open/close programmed as a shortcut as I simply do not like the display in the raised position unless I am using it for something specific. Also, I understand that in the Z4 models after 2009 that the display does not open every time on start so there is less need for the shortcut.

Oh ok MikeChrista.. Guess it makes sense... If your iDrive screen is down, you can still have your song displayed on your Radio Screen ??

To be honest I don't know as I have never noticed! I tend to know the music without looking

What radio screen?

The Control Display ("iDrive screen") is the only display for the radio.
