Recall Nightmare continue

Received my recall. The job was completed last week at Premier BMW of Cape Cod, my local dealer.
However with the repair I got 2 scratches on my car and a ruined set of rear 293 wheels.
Here is the story.
My car was mint clean. The kids who the dealer hires to wash the cars decided to wash my car anyways, even mint clean like my car was.
I saw them Using big brushes on other cars for washing and then for drying they were using bladed squeegees. I now know how they scratched my car and I assuming all cars. I guess the average BMW driver doesn't care.

Rear 293 wheels. I just had the wheels off the car and polished them super clean with wheel polish. I took lots of pictures (luckily) of how nice they looked.
I picked up the car to find the scratches and tell the service manager who agrees to fix them.
I get the car home and notice that both rear wheels, not the front for what ever reason, have the clear coat look like shattered and wrinkled glass.
I take the car back to the service manager and he cannot explain it BUT agrees to replace the 2 wheel under warranty.

Fast Forward 2 weeks. I get my new wheels installed. I inspect them right at the dealer and the technicians (hacks) who installed them chipped 1 wheel so bad, that i would not accept it. Immediately Back to the service manager, who inspects it and again agrees to replace the brand new wheel, now chipped wheel, with another new one.

I will post if I finally get this corrected. What a recall

Sorry, dude. That sucks. No excuse for employees at a service center for high end vehicles to not take care of those cars. I had all four wheels marred with a tire change at a local tire company (not BMW). They made it right and fixed the wheels. But the whole time I'm thinking, come on guys. It's not like these are steel wheels on a beater pickup. Take an extra moment and do it right.

These days it's harder to change tires due to lower profiles and very stiff sidewalls with RFT's. I personally would not let anyone but BMW change them for me (more experience, in theory, since they change RFT's all day long). But, good catch on your part. I think many of us know every square inch of our cars, so a good inspection before leaving after a service call is a great idea.

nice catch. being OCD about the car really pays off sometimes.

I have "DO NOT WASH" written on all of my work orders for this exact reason.

A big "DO NOT WASH" sign left on the dashboard also helps for those that aren't allowed to touch something as important as a work order (i.e. every single car washer at every dealership in the USA). The sign I use at my Lexus dealer has saved me many times.

That state is in my records NOW at the dealer and I too had to have the work order for the replacements wheels marked with a great big DO NOT WASH.

As a former service manager for a luxury brand I can confirm that tasks like wheel/tire replacement are done by the the greenest of green technicians. Even if you do get an experienced tech to do the job, they are going to rush the job so they can get onto something that can make them money $$$$$$.
Let's not even talk about the guys running the car wash
Those guys are hired at the absolute lowest rate possible. I've known service managers who higher guys you wouldn't trust with a bag of potato chips, much less to take reasonable care of a car when they wash it.
My heart goes out to all you folks who have had bad experiences.

Frankly, I don't understand this. Don't they pretty much detail every car before delivery? Surly, detailing or washing a car that has just been serviced isn't that much more different?

Car wash folks are the lowest common denominator. Job qualifications are limited to being able to tell apart a bucket from a sponge.
New car prep folks are typically dedicated to that task and are full time career employees.
Sad but true, I've seen car wash folks crush fenders, leave sunroofs open, doors open, destroy wheels, scratch finish and the most popular... Knocking mirror off the vehicle. Sure there are good folks out there but service department either promotes them to new car prep or they leave for a better paying job.
Think of it as a high turnover position like a dishwasher at a restuarant.
