Is BMW hiding something?

Does anyone else find it unusual that after four years no crash safety data exist for this vehicle in any market north American or European? I would assume that even if one didn't the other would have already.

Other low-volume vehicles have safety data available in the European or American market so what's going on.

is there crash safety issues that BMW does not want us to know about with this vehicle?

Where's the data? Or should we just assume that because it's a BMW its safe?

Has BMW even released their own crash test data?

Anyone have any ideas of what's going on?

Check your sources for first gen Z4 data. May have grandfathered due to %age of similarities.

Only the previous e85 available. Probably cos it's too similar to the e89?

It does share some minor components but structurally its a different vehicle. I can't find any other low volume car not tested for 4 years.

Sure hope they are not hiding anything. I erroneously assumed the car is a BMW and hence safe. I honestly didn't think about this issue as much as I hate to admit it

That blows dude. When was that? What was damaged and what was repair cost if you don't mind me asking?

that was last Nov, 5 months after I got the car.

had about $26k in repair, 6 weeks of driving a Toyota Yaris

3 months prior to that, I was #3 in a 5 cars fender bender. Again, wasn't my fault. I was stopped on the freeway during rush hour.
$25k in repairs.
The only upside to this? I get to have a new front bumper without license plate drilled onto it

Sorry OP

BMW Safe? Absolutely! I was the crash test dummy @ 25 - 30 mph impact .

There are plenty. Try finding crash rating for any Ferrari for example...

Cars in the US are tested by the goverment, and by the IIHS, an independent organization. The manufacturer doesn't choose which car is tested and how. But low volume cars are rarely tested by those organizations.

Tranquillity, I don't think that's a vanity plate...just a regular plate #.

There have been lots of E89's sent away for crash testing.
It's just that every time the guys in the crash test centre have a look at the Z, they just can't bring themselves to crash it.
They have a secret underground resistance fighting force that gets the crash test E89's to freedom.
Same is true for Ferrari and Zondas.

You're correct. Not much reused or minimally reworked items are common with 1st gen.

Index Description
1 New components (newly developed)
2 Common parts
3 Modified components (developed with minimum expenditure)

There have been several stories I've read over the last few years of Z4 Drivers walking away from big time crashes. BMW employs the same safety features into this car that it does to all their others. I'm confident of its safety.
