You’d rather BMW USA stop “making a big deal” out of their involvement in this event? The entire reason BMW is spending money on this is for marketing/advertising. Of course they’re going to shine a light on their investment. Check your hate.

But you're correct, it's just an automobile. Sad but true.

Seems you are the only one making an issue of the Rebelle Rally being a women's-only event...

It’s telling how BMW didn’t/couldn’t use something like an iX2 in this event and chose an ICE-equipped vehicle instead. 😏

I posted on the preview thread of the car that Id love a Safari version., Clearly BMW had something like that in mind given all the crazy on off roading builds....

YET I did not think it would look like this, I thought the wheels would be a lot bigger. Alas this isnt a Dakar, but just rally car so of course. Kinda think it has potential still but after seeing it kitted out Im not so sure. Dang.

Good luck to the ladies!

I'm not totally clear why it hurts so many people for BMW to expand the M line if they're still making amazing cars that "we" want (M2, M5 CS, M3, M4, manuals, M3 touring, etc etc). Maybe people feel that it harms the community to have people who are interested in more practical performance cars feeling like they are M drivers, too? I say more the merrier who love the brand and can subsidize our low volume manual cars. Or maybe folks think because M = Motorsport then every M car needs to be a full on race car? I don't know what races the M5 CS is racing in but it seems like it's been universally lauded as an amazing performance car despite its weight. I know everyone wants the lightweight performance car to make a comeback but the hey-day is gone and there are a couple of options: 1) embrace the future, 2) buy a real sports car, 3) buy an old classic. All honestly fine options. This X2 looks cool, prob sounds good, and feels much better to drive than a GLA - that's a win for the brand in my books.

The elephant in the room is, this day and age there’s no way you’ll see a men’s-only event like this.

The all-new BMW X2 to compete in the 2023 Rebelle Rally

Only days after its World Premiere, the BMW X2 will make its inaugural appearance at the Rebelle Rally.
The 8-day competition covers more than 1,300 miles of challenging terrain.

Woodcliff Lake, NJ – October 12, 2023…BMW of North America is excited to be campaigning the all-new BMW X2 in this year’s Rebelle Rally, the longest off-road rally competition held in the United States. The all-new BMW X2 will be competing in the X-CROSS™ Class and will be driven and navigated by veteran Rebelle Rally competitors Rebecca Donaghe and Sedona Blinson.

The 2023 Rebelle Rally will get underway Thursday, October 12, at the Mammoth Mountain Resort in Mammoth Lakes, CA, and finish Saturday, October 21, in the Imperial Dunes near the Mexican border. The rally encompasses 6 stages and stretches more than 1,300 miles across the harsh and unforgiving deserts of California and Nevada. A first-time competitor in the rally, the BMW X2 faces a tough challenge that will test the vehicle’s endurance and reliability.

“It is the first time that we have entered a BMW into this competition, which is extremely demanding not only on the driver and navigator, but also on the vehicle. We are excited to see how the all-new BMW X2 performs in the hands of these experienced rally competitors.” said Andreas Meyer, Vice President of Product Management at BMW of North America.

For this competition, the BMW X2 has been modified for severe off-road use with the following [...]

Saw on TechCrunch today that it was team Rivian who took first place in the 4x4 category.

The BMW did really well in the non transfer case category.
