Service Manual?

I have tried all over, even d'ld a manual only to be disappointed. I want to replace the starter in an E89 non turbo 2009. I cannot find the procedure or write up to do this. I'm pretty sure I can do the job without a book, but I'm sure there are hiccups along the way so I dont want any surprises. Any help would be nice. TYIA

What model do you have? If you have the i3.0 all you have to do is look up the N52 starter replacement. I do believe there are a couple of YouTube videos out there. Even though it may not be a Z4 the motor is still the same. If I remember correctly you have to take off the air box and intake manifold to get to it. First start off by looking up your motor.

Thanks, yes it's the 3.0 non turbo, I thought it to be the N54 all along because my 08' 335 i coupe is the 3.0 twin turbo setup and thought that in a non turbo carried over in the beginning of production which hers is one of the first here. No bother I will look it up ,like I said I'm sure I can do it without a manual. Thank You.

no kidding. Bad enough that everything I do on this car has the "first time" problems associated with it. Even worse doing it with no instructions or even more worse trying to adapt instructions from a different car with the assumption that the technique is the same.

I wish

Ok so I looked on YouTube and there are a couple of DIY videos. The only thing is that they are not the Z4. Yet the good thing is the engine bay of our car is much larger than most with this motor configuration. So I know it's a lot easier to work on from the top. But yes there is a manual out online. I'll try and find it again. It specifically is related to the N52 motor.

The engine for the turbo model isn't really a problem. This engine is in a few other models such as the 535 and 335.

For this car, info on the differences for things like cooling system, convertible top, brakes and so on would be helpful.

I have a handful of BMW e89 training manuals (files) that I can send you if you want to look them over. I have been on a quest for manuals for a while, no luck on any printed manuals for our later Z4 (e89).
I purchased a huge conglomeration of files off ebay- but it is hardly useable. Send me a PM with your email if you want some of these.

Mine is a 30i also, you'll find stuff on the n52 that may be of interest. My most complete 7z training file is corrupted, that iwa the most complete training guide for our e89. Just let me know.
