Help with '09 35i Options Please....
I know BMW's pretty well (have an M6 and until recently, a 135i) but not the E89. I have been looking for another 135i but thought it would be fun to maybe get a Z4 35i instead and the interior quality is more along the lines of my M6 with their full leather on the dash and doors.
I am looking to spend around $40K +/- which seems to be about right for a 10K mile '09 35i pretty loaded with DCT. The questions I have are the following.... It doesn't look like any '09 cars have the M Sport steering wheel so I assume this wasn't an '09 option and came the following year. Is it a correct assumption that as long as I get a Sport Package car that I have everything except for the M wheel from the later years? Any pitfalls to the '09 model year (my first year 135i was solid as a rock)? One last one...I want the DCT but am a performance guy so the stupid push/pull paddle setup on the wheel drives me nuts. I would assume that since I am a skilled electronics guy, that I could mod the paddles for up on one side and down on the other with a forward pull. I would also assume that this has been done before and that there may even be aftermarket kits out there. Thanks for any help! I could probably turn a lot of this up with some in depth research but as I am looking to buy a car as early as today, I don't have a lot of time to make sure I am not making and mistakes. |

Yes there is a mod for the paddles, use the search and look at other BMW boards.

You may not even find a used 2009 35i. I've not seen one for sale here in Phoenix yet.
$40k may be more like 30i territory. Last edited by BlueZ4AZ; 07-19-2011 at 12:03 PM.. |

All the 35i I've ever seen advertised accross the country, which are very few, are all $45k and up. We'll probably see more for sale in 2012, after all the 30 month leases are up.

They have some "executive demos" (whatever that is), 2010 35i for $46k and $54k. Yes, still expensive, keep in mind that's just the publicly advertised price. About 1,500 and 14,000 miles. So you may actually be able to get a 2010 ... (I am not affiliated with this dealership in any form, nor do I have any experience with them.) |
