BMS DCI
I installed the dual cone intake and drove the car about an hour or so to see how it is. Overall it is very beneficiary. It sort of minimized turbo lag between shifts and added up some power that you can actually feel. In addition, there is this really nice sound on high raves due to extra air induction.
My only concern is about the engine temperature. Before the installation, it used to sit right below 100 C but now it is up to 120 and at wot it goes maybe little bit above that. I dont know if that is going to have any negative impact, I am going to observe for a while .. but man I loved the sound it ... |

In the long run you lose power due to heat soak. It has been logged and proven in the E90/N54 section of the forums but if you like the sound the car makes and dont mind minimal power losses then stick with them

after driving it couple weeks, i havent noticed any power loss. i drive mostly in the city for short distances and my car is bone stock except the dci...
but i gotta admit the sound of the intake is nice. it is not too loud but at high rpms it is sweet.. |

Doesn't hurt to provide some additional fresh air to the DCIs.
http://performanceunlimited.com/cobr...n/ductfan.html The smallest fan ( I have not purchased yet) will help with a delivery of 140 cfm. Again, it doesn't hurt to provide more fresh air, whether you "pump" it to the filters or allow ram-effect at speed. Increase of air mass is the power provider and the FMIC is in place to handle the real heat load.

Thanks for naming it "cool set-up". The 8" collector at the inlet has a bracket attached to the 10mm bolt for one of the horns and there is foam around top, bottom and outboard sides of collector. Stable. I set a fan on the ground in front of the inlet and was encouraged with the 2 1/2" hose flow.
