Is this normal? (loose bumper around xenon light)

Hi,

Today I discovered my bumper is a bit loose around the Xenon lights.

The driver side is more loose compared to the passenger side. Is this normal? My dealer replaced the Xenon a few weeks ago. Can this be the cause of the problem? I think the bumper needs to be removed to replace the Xenons?

Passenger side:

Driver side:

Can you guys please check if this is the same on your car?

Thanks

Maaij

Are you saying that prior to replacing the bulbs there was no movement in the panels?

I don't know, that's why I am asking if anyone has the same "problem"?

My dealer changed the whole unit, not only the bulbs.

Yep - it's the same on mine - probably not as much as in the second video though but it's there all the same. Hope this helps!

Mine has exactly the same flexibility but your right side (second video) seems to be misaligned at the bumper/hood seam.

Maaij:
Now that I have seen your video I can report that there is a bit of play in mine, but seem insignificant, not sure how hard you are pushing but it appears normal in your video. Take into account that this part is designed to flex or separate at the front of the wheel opening in case you hit, or get hit by something in the front and limit the amount of damage transferred from the bumper. I would not worry about this much flexing in that area

My first thought also cause by careless re-assembly!

Same misalignment and some flex here, noticed that when bot the car, sent it to the service to fix. Checked other cars in the dealership, and they looked properly aligned though...bit frustrating for a BMW...

Yes, I have reservations with BMW now that my rear view mirror was malfunctioning (did not even have the compass indicator on) and loose passenger handle fresh out from the factory. There are still bits and pieces that I need to have work done such as the driver's armrest and the steering wheel because of finish issues. I have to wait for a few months for the dealer to start ordering the parts as they are not available now.
