Way to scroll through Ipod lists any faster?

Is there any way to speed the process of scrolling through iPod lists - artists, for example - without painstakingly scrolling through all the A's, then B's, etc... to get to ZZTop? My Mercedes allows you to use the phone pad to select a starting letter - if you hit the "7", the iPod list jumps to artists beginning with the letter "P". Any tricks here?

Garage List
Excellent question - I want to know the answer too! I don't have the iDrive, so tunes from the iPod appear on the radio interface in the lower dash.

I don't find the scroll speed to be a problem. It is sooo much faster than older versions. It literally does take minutes to scroll to ZZ Top in my '08 550i.

EDIT: There is also an A-Z search. Enter ZZ and it finds ZZ Top immediately.

i like these questions... very nice geoaero.

have you tried the search feature? it's right below the lists, e.g. when you click on multimedia and then ipod, lists come up like artist, playlists and others, right below all of that is "search"

it's funny how BMW is kind of the originator of Ipoding your car, but they're falling behind quickly in that dept. i know there's a hack to enter hidden menus where you can see your speed digitally, your location drawn in degrees of latitude and longitude and altitude and all sorts of stuff, so keep asking!!

I'll have to check out the "search" function. I don't have iDrive. Is this something on the regular radio controls?

I bought a small 16 gig iPod for this car. I have the Classic 160 G, nearly full with music, in the Mercedes. I could never access the latter part of the alphabet on that iPod with the Z4 scrolling...

Not to get off topic but the assistance window in the iDrive display can be set to "position" and show lat., long., and alt. I don't know the menu to get to the speed, etc.

the hack shows it all in the large window, speed, consumption, position, service info, outside temp, mileage to service, it's all in the one large window.
