Girlfriend of 1 year. Help

What do I get her for anniversary??

So I love this girl, will probably marry her some time but we are both still in college and I don't have a lot of expendable income.

I am looking to spend a couple hundred tops but this David yurman bracelet I know she is saving for is like $400. Yikes. When I'm irresponsible with money it tends to be buying her shit so I could see myself getting it.

Obviously the first place to get an opinion is the only site I look at while pooping and eating! E90post!

What did you gear heads get your gf/significant other for one year anny?

Already got reservations for dinner and dancing so I'm already at $200 bucks...I could buy so much more for my car if....haha jk

Considering your budget, flowers and dinner should be plenty.

Besides, your future wife should be the type that cares about your budget, so she should understand.

P.S. I spent 300+ on dinner and like 80 on flowers.

O she is very understanding. I just gain utility from spoiling her haha

Edit. Yea that's a good amount for dinner. Good flowers are not cheap! Luckily the town we go to college in dosent have any restaurants that will crack more than 200 for a well equipped dinner!

was in a relationship for 3+ years. 1st year anniversary i got her a necklace from tiffany. I was only 20 at the time lol. Eventually i realized the best gifts arent the ones that are most expensive but the ones that are crafted/built. Or even sometimes a couple really cool inside joke/gag gifts are great. We started doing that a lot for xmas/anniversaries/birthdays and it made it a lot easier around those special occasions

get her something meaningful. if you start buying expensive shit early, it only gets worse from there, in 3 years you'll be buyer her LV and Chanels. you don't want that.

start slow, and slowly progress, don't spoil a girl no matter how much you may want to

Yea that is my main concern. It's almost easier to open my bank than create a proper meaningful gift haha. I have ideas thou. Just need time!

I have had dance lesson reservation for a month because I know she has wanted to learn some moves (aka be less embarased by my dance skills) so just need an icing gift.

Yeah I made this mistake. I spent thousands on a girl and started with too much too early to the point where she almost expected increasingly expensive gifts as time went on. It's just a bad situation to be in.

She broke up with me eventually

Although, interestingly enough she broke up with her new BF (and maybe one or two more along the way) and has tried to re-initiate contact with me after 4 years. I try to steer clear of ex-girlfriends, though. It never works out well.

Long ago when I was in your position, I bought a little white gold necklace with a white gold heart charm that had a little diamond in it (very little, about your budget, maybe a nit more). She wore it every day for many years, she still has it too.

Isn't the first year anniversary "paper"?

Get her a gift certificate with a nice card. You don't want to go too much too soon, or else you might scare off a nice baby who's ready to party.

One year anniversary? You're just dating right? Don't get her anything. Save the presents for Christmas, her birthday, Valentine's Day, etc. etc. celebrate your anniversary by taking her out to dinner and maybe flowers.

Did the same $1000 promise ring. We just had our last bf/gf anniversary this month: 6 years. Getting married in march. So 5 years isnt long!!

Lucky to have started a tradition of passing down diamonds to the next generation so technically this is not hers to keep

Think of it as amortizing the costs over decades

Roughly $3 a day for 20 years. Not bad. LOL.

Congrats man. Well the wedding will still be at least another 1 year so we will be on the same path.

Im using my grandmothers diamond for the center piece so the tradition as already started just skipped a generation.

Hahaha no shit. Even though I have the main diamond the setting and other diamonds are crazy exspensive

These answers are insane. Dropping $100's on jewelry and crap for a girl you probably won't even marry, and if you do marry her then none of these gifts should have made a difference.

Take her to a nice dinner and get some flowers, show her a good time.

I think the goal is to cheap out for as long as you can and see if she sticks around. I've managed to do that for a good 12 years and running. Grandma taught me, never feed them full till they're 65.

Look at it this way, in a year you have Christmas, birthday, V-day, and anniversary that usually require a gift. If you make it a habit of gifting, you're gonna run out of ideas or money real soon. In a way, you'll also expect something in return from her which will again put stress on her. No gifts, no problems. If your gifting comes with special sexual returns (what the gladiators call "cunt for coin") then you're gonna be facing an uphill battle with increasingly expensive gifts to maintain those favors.

My last gift to my wife was her engagement ring and before that was an Eeyore from ToyzRus in 2005 or something lol.

My suggestion, exchange gifts with experiences. Make her a dinner at home, buy a wine and enjoy some popcorn and watch a movie. Simple things bro.
