Noisy hardtop

This started recently ... hardtop has become very noisy .. I noticed there is some space between the cloth panel and metal panel of the hardtop (rear). Please see the pic. Notice the space between the cloth panel and metal panel. Is this gap normal ? When I press the cloth panel it does make noise which is giving me lot of headaches.

Appreciate any suggestions.

Interesting view you show in pic. I'll check mine tomorrow and get back.

Yes I have this space, and yes I have a very annoying 'cracking/rubbing' noise from time to time. I've found that pulling the roof lining away about 1 to 2 mm (which you can't visually detect) silences it. There are small clips on the roof sheet that slide into clasps on the metal part (at each corner), a gentle tug will move them and all is quiet again. Took me ages to find this, seems over time they settle presumably due to heat changes, which makes a creaking noise.

I've not been able to get pics as my cars in for a detail, but when sat in the car, roof in place, look behind you at the roof, just above your shoulder is the internal roof seam. Pulling at this seam corner for the main part of the internal roof cover will remove the cover, you can then see the clips to pop the roof cover back. It simply clips in place.
