Wishing you all well ... I said good bye to my Z4
Just a short note to all that helped me out on this Fine Forum over the past year or so. Sorry I annoyed some of you with my 2 rear wheel cracked issues. Then any of you that have read my posts know how badly I have been treated by a certain US BMW Dealership. I will say no more about this issue and put it away as a nightmare of an experience.
Anyway, today I purchased a new M3 and I know I will be very happy with this car not having to worry about RFT and the like. The car is a 2 Door Coupe, Manual Transmission, Alpine White, Fox Red Novillo Leather 19 inch wheels and fine Michelin Performance tires (none RFT ). Just like my old M3 (e46) it has a compressor and tire kit in the trunk. I will be posting pictures next week in the M3 Forum (a preview of photos below). I did enjoy my sDrive Z4 3.5i immensely, however, my dilemma was not knowing when I have to deal with the next cracked wheel is just not my way of a happy retirement for I have many a places left to visit and I do love to drive and explore this fantastic North American continent. In the meantime thanks again to many of you having helped me out with many a questions. Wishing all of you nothing bud the best. Be safe always and drive carefully. Cheers, Rolf-Dieter

hey Rolf, i wish you all the very best with your new "Toy". As for me, i remember the very warm welcome you extended to me on my arrival to this forum. I am sorry though about the treatment you got from the dealership and a certain forum member. I hope you will be lurking on this section of the forum from time to time. Although i have not contributed much on this forum, i have enjoyed reading your inputs.
I wish you all the very best with your new beast. Take care! |

I think the memories of the treatment (at the US BMW Dealership) will fade now after I start driving my M3 next week. As for the member that posted a thread with my handle, well, I am glad the Webmaster closed the thread. I first relied to that fellow then deleted my reply for I see no need to start bad blood over such a minimal issue. Happy motoring to you Cheers, Rolf-Dieter Thank you Richard, I don’t know if you drove a M3 before (quite a few members here did). It is just a fun car as is the Z4. Cheers, Rolf-Dieter Quote:
Take care, Rolf-Dieter Well Gunzaro, you know how it is sometimes like a bad love affair. Sleep over it a few times and one changes ones mind. Besides I think there is nothing like a Bimmer I drove a M3 for 4 years you see never ever did I have any issues. I wish you well, Cheers, Rolf-Dieter Quote:
Keep an eye on your 296 wheels. I’ll be in Alberta later this spring perhaps I call on you and we have coffee Happy Travels! Cheers, Rolf-Dieter

Wow! That's much better solution, comparing to SLK350 I will appreciate if you would tell later how do you like it after your z4 35i. As for me I find Z4 way too small and I'm thinking of buying another bigger car. Wish you all the best! Hope you'll enjoy M3!

I'm jealous! I want Mineral White - Fox Red extended - 6speed manual - Competition package. Waiting for 2012 though. I'll see you in the M3 forum in the near future with a lot more enthusiasts to chat with. Take care and have fun with your new toy! Looking forward to see more pics.

Hmmm ... so you got fed up with BMW so bought another ... BMW?!
You could probably have personally expensed a full set of more bump friendly 18"ers on all corners of the Z4. That would probably have come out cheaper than the change of car ... ... and that's before you came to any agreement with BMW to go 'half' on the wheel change or something ... Or does the M3 have non-RFT? Is that the reason? But best of luck anyway, they are both fantastic cars. |

Best of luck Rolf-Dieter. Enjoy the new wheels.
Dave EDIT: Rolf, meant to add that my new X3 came with runflats, Pirelli brand. So far after a few days driving, I like them a lot, better than the Bridgestones on my Z - mind you, the sidewalls on the Pirelli's are bigger, so that probably adds to the difference in ride.

Rolf - now who will I have to sympathize with me and all of my Z4 troubles? Congratulations on the M3, an inspired choice. I am glad you stayed in the BMW family and purchased the best of the bunch. By the way, you did not annoy me for one second because unless you have been tooled around by a brand you love like we have, you honestly just cannot understand the pain.

Thank you! Torn, HerrK, entrepreneur177, flpnout, bobele, bobele, Merefield, bill123, Constant.S, Land_Shark, Dave Marien and VintageBMW for your kind words.
I will stop by from time to time no question. Always good to share experiences and help others out when one can Dave, good luck with your new x3 and congratulations you may have read I almost got one too for our daily driver then we opted for the MB C350 4MATIC and I must say it was a good choice. The car handles real well. flpnout, waiting for 2012 might be fine and good, my recommendation would be to look for a good deal on a 2011 (always nice to save a few dollars - one might think of it to offset high gas prices with that kind of dollar saving). Besides the 2012 edition might just surface with RFT God forbid. Then anything is possible Merefield, all I can say once a M3 driver always a M3 driver. I will have fine memories from last years 13,303 KM US road trip we had great fun in the Z4 and it is a fantastic car no question. It is just the uncertainty of the wheels that helped tip the scale to get back into a M3
