ESP kicking in after speed bumps
When driving over speed bumps in the Z4, the ESP kicks in very often, disabling acceleration for something like a second or a little more. Happens especially when going over narrower, more abrupt ones, even at speeds as low as 15 km/h (9 mph), as soon as the rear wheels pass the bump. I can go over the same speed bumps with the 5 series at double the speeds and everything is fine, so I guess this is not normal behavior. Any idea what might be causing it?

Im thinking towards wheelspeed/abs sensors and reluctor rings. Have seen some videos on them causing problems on 3 series and 1 series... sensor going against the ring... ring corroding and then touching and rubbing the sensor etc. There could be codes stored. So i would check and read them first.

Thanks for the info!
I have been to the dealer for some scheduled service operations recently, I would think they checked the ECUs for fault codes, but I really can't trust them. I guess I will have someone else have a look (I haven't managed to read fault codes yet, it's much more difficult than I expected after my experience with VCDS on VW). |
