Steering Wheel or Paddles Switch Out ?
My old Z4 had these push/pull, both sides work the same paddles (A) which I hated. Some people say "well you get used to them". Well I didn't and I won't go back.
My question is, is there a way to either switch to the newer style paddles (B) or completely swap out steering wheels? I stopped by a BMW dealer and talked to a service advisor, he was pretty dismissive with his "nope can't do it". I know there's a way to rewire the old style paddles so they function like the new style, but I just want a total swap of either paddles or steering wheel. I'm currently looking for a car to buy, but I won't even consider an '11 or older if it has these paddles. I'd like to be able to consider those cars because of the lower prices. Thanks. |

You can purchase the pull style paddles somewhere online and there is a tutorial on YouTube of a guy showing how to remove the airbag component and then removing the push/pull paddles and installing the new pull style paddles. It's pretty much plug and play. The pull style paddles runs about $450 I believe.
