It's not a race car. Yeah it's a little heavy but 707 horses is plenty for it and it's not meant for the track. It's a cruiser, a muscle car, and it's completely unapologetic about it except for the nice interior.

My buddy has one of the fastest Challengers in the world. He ran a 200.9 at the Mojave mile. Absolutely insane.

Pics? I've always loved the Challengers, just thought they needed mo powa.

EDIT: BTW when I said it's not a race car, I meant road courses, not the strip.

No worries,, I knew what you meant considering thats always what the typical M driver says when they see comething faster than them in a straight line

Stand by for pics...

Here's the car. He recently ditched the KB s/c for a twin turbo setup. Right now it's sitting at some pretty serious #s but I can't disclose yet @ragingclue

It surprises me that this concept is so hard for a lot of people to grasp. Even the folks over at Mustang6G are fabricating a pissing match between it and the defunct GT500 when there isn't a real comparison to be made.

You don't buy this car with superior handling or agility in mind; you buy it because it's batshit crazy and you want lurid burnouts and in-gear acceleration. It also looks and sounds incredible and would make for a fantastic boulevard cruiser.

Emotion > logic in this scenario, which is completely understandable.

I'm pretty sure once owners start taking delivery of the car, they will make 10 sec pass and trap higher with a completely, bone stock car.

Still faster than a '13 GT500 and way faster than a ZL1.

This.

I'm pretty intrigued by the Scat Pack R/T which will incorporate the 392 Hemi from the SRT into the R/T.

Yup, not my style at all. But I get why some would be into it. 707hp from factory for $60k with a warranty, is just crazy.

Yeah good point. I meant won't be able to hit 10s on stock tires. But I love eating my own words! Can't wait till owners take delivery, a 10.9 with a slight tail wind and the right conditions isn't entirely unreasonable on stock tires I suppose.

They'll go faster than 10.9, more like 10.7.

And the R/T with the Scat Pack is going to be something crazy to watch for. Under $40k for that is crazy. What will be the point of buying an actual SRT8? Save yourself $5k+ and get the Scat Pack on the R/T.

Too many design houses forgetting this ATM. I don't give a flying fuck how fast my car is around the ring in stock form and I don't want to bench race against strangers on the Internet. I want to enjoy the hell out of it when I'm in the driver's seat. That's it.

So when exactly did 875 HP become 1000 HP? Round up much?

Totally in on the emotion>logic concept though. When I buy a car it is totally all about how it makes me FEEL. I don't care much about numbers as long as advertising matches reality.

Its got 1000 something HP at the engine and it puts down 875 RWHP. Come on, it's not that hard to figure out.

So I didn't hear about the Scat Pack and looked at it, very neat.
Quote:
New this year—and especially of interest to enthusiasts on a little more of a budget is a Challenger R/T Scat Pack model that brings a lot of the features of last year's SRT model, with the 6.4-liter 'Apache' Hemi engine now making 485 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque; 0-60 mph numbers roll in the low four-second range, and Chrysler estimates that it will get up to 25 mpg highway. It starts at just $39,490—that's nearly $3,000 less than last year's SRT Core.

Though I think i would spend the extra 7k and get the SRT 392 for the suspension, brakes, hood, seats and sound...lot of goodies there. Especially to stop this land boat.
Quote:
Above the Scat Pack, the SRT 392 also gets the new 485-hp Hemi, plus a new Viper-inspired hood, Brembo six-piston calipers, an adaptive-damping suspension, SRT performance pages with launch control, special high-performance Nappa leather seats, a flat-bottom steering wheel, 900-watt Harmon Kardon audio, and more. All said, it's $46,990.

This is literally the exact point I've been making in a thread over on M6G that's discussing the newly released power specs.

I don't care if my car is a few tenths - or shit, even a couple of seconds - faster or slower than its direct competition in a straight line or around a track; I care about how it looks, how it sounds, and ultimately how it drives. I can't recall a time where I unzipped my pants and laid out my dick at the base of a stoplight to see if it stacks up to the guy next to me. I do recall my memorable drives, those "moments" where everything clicks while you're connecting the dots from apex to apex.

Most performance cars are varying shades of stupid-fast nowadays. What makes a modern car stand out is how well it goes about being fast.
