19x10 Question

Hi Guys,
I'm new to the forum. I actually have a Deep Sea Blue/ Coral Red sDrive35is otw.

I'm switching over from a E46 330i and have a wheels question. I know/ assume that the Z4s share similar fitment to a 3 series coupe.

Anyways my question is what sizes fit best for the Z4, mainly 19x10 vs 19x11.
I have a set of Linea Corsa LMs, 19x8.5 , 19x9.5 that I could switch over but i feel that they may be wide enough in the rear.

Also when looking for wheels would it be safe to say that M3 fitment and options would be best for us?

Thanks for your input and advise!! I've been searching all the Beemer forums with out any luck on solid stats...

E89 shares the same fitment as E46 M3 and Z4M. I am running 19x10 and I feel that is is wide enough for our cars. There's no point in running too wide because you don't want to stretch your tires too much and rub over big bumps.

What are the specs of your wheels? You may be able to run them if the offset is right. Check the center bore as well. You may need center rings to fit them properly.

I'm running 19x9 et 35 and 19x10 et 38
E9x M fit meant might be too aggressive as most M cars use 19x10.5 et 25

Edit: info based on MPOST for sale threads

Thanks for your help guys!!

I guess I can keep my fronts and just order the rears(10-12 week back order), or buy them used.

Btw Hoa I saw your cars on another thread, great looking rides! I really liked the white Z4M.

A very aggressive setup could be 19x9.5 front (your rears on the front of the Z) and 19x11 rear. It depends on offset values and suspensions (ARE YOU ON COILOVER?). Offset values for this setup: Front 28-30 / Rear 35-37. These are the exact offsets limits to avoid inner rubbing and sticking out from the fenders. With some spacers you can match them perfectly, if you need.

Otherwise go with a more conservative 19x8.5 front (ET around 25-30) and 19x10 rear (ET around 35-40).

8-10 mm too low both on front and rear. With this set up you will have the wheels sticking out of the fenders 1 cm front and 1 cm rear, approximately.

IMO is too aggressive, ugly.

Even if, by a strong positive camber, on specific coilovers, you could correct a bit the rear.

im running similar setup and have no problem at all. it doesn't stick out

19X8.5 +17 245/35/19
19X10 +25 275/30/19

for your front, i would recommend running 235 and you will be just fine

Probably the meaning of "stick out" is subjective.... And it depends also on the camber values and lowering... but...
In my case (stock adaptive suspension) a 10 rim is perfectly flushing the rear fender with +35 while +25 is too low (i checked out the vertical aligment wheel -fender with a plastic plane). The same for the front: 8.5 is perfectly aligned to the fender with +25 and +17 would stick out a bit...

Hello again,
I've been researching wheels and I see 19x10 with offset of 22(e46 m3 fitment), and offset 37, see link
http://www.wheeldude.com/wordpress/tag/19x8519x10

My question is why are both numbers so off? and also which set up would provide the deeper lip? I am assuming the 22 offset, but when you look at the photo of a 37 offset the lip looks as big, maybe even bigger...

any thoughts?

IMO your wheels stick out 1 cm more or less, especially the rear ones...

If the aim of the thread is to give infos to the forum about the "exact numbers of ET and widht" to have the wheels flushing the fenders i believe my numbers are more accurate than yours...

Anyway, i'm not criticizing your car, it is just a clarification

the lower the offset, the larger the lip will be

wouldn't it rub if i go over big bumps if it is sticking out? i don't have that issue. my car is lowered now and it is tucking inside the fenders. i only had to trim the fender liner a little bit to clear the tires. no other mods on the car to clear it

Probably we are talking about different things: my numbers of width / offset refer to the rims position. The outer border of the tires is another thing, related to "beefy or stretched tires", tires brand, etc... Rubbing or not (on the rear) is more related to the outer border of the tire than to the rims width.... For obvious reasons, the front wheels never touch the upper part of the fenders, even if they stick out…. 3 cm…. at least you change significatively their overall diameter.

I actually likes Hoa's set up. Its tasteful and is a good balance of class and race. I am a big fan of step-lips. They look amazing from all angles and have a classic look.

Im sure if he had the same size wheels with a concave face you would not think of them as sticking out.

Anyways I guess you can say the purpose of this thread is to get 19x10's or an aggressive set up that gives a deep lip with out rubbing.

Btw and comments about handling? Improved cornering, improved steering response? any change in speedo readings?

I forget to mention I will be tracking the car once a month. ( I know the Linea Corse are not the best for the track but i like the look and just want to have fun, enjoy my car. Not break any records)
