FBO, LPFP, et al ... thoughts?
Quote:
BuraQ what's your view on what the stock fuel pump can support, power-wise? And pardon my ignorance, but when you say "FBO" do you include turbos in the FBO definition or just the rest of the intake-side stuff? My car heads to the builder this week, as I just don't have time given an E46 restoration with my son. My car, as it stands is getting - 19" x 9.5 & 10.5" Forgestars, 6-pot Brembos, H&R springs & sways, Luxon front stress bar, VRFS DPs & fix, ER IC & CP, Tial BoV, DCI, MMP silicone inlets and outlets, various CF front, rear, side pieces. I'm still on the fence for the LSD and even more on the fence with the rear brake solution (stupid e-brake). This will end up with MHD and BuraQ tuning to make it all work right. I say the above comments about my car, relative to your statement of "plan strategically". My intention was to stay with stock turbos. I figured the above might get to 450whp or thereabouts which should be more than enough (yeah yeah you can never have enough). Beyond that it seems to be that turbos would open the door to further suspension, etc. I think I can harness the car with the H&R stuff at the above level without needing to touch bushings/shocks/struts. Given the above, it seems that my next expense would be the LSD. Thoughts? Of course glad to hear input from anyone. Thanks, Filippo |

I can't imagine running with out an LSD. I'm about 425 WHP and 470 lb/ft. I've been running the M factory helical for 1 1/2 yrs now. In my opinion best mod to support a good tune.

I still have a bit more room on the fueling tables to go. With upgraded twins and less ethanol I would say probably 530-550 whp However, I have come across couple of Z4 that their fueling system was almost tanking at about 430 whp and perhaps over 500 wtq. The only thing I discovered, well as a thought, is all my modules were updated with INA0S software from the dealer before jumping to MHD. Now at one time I flashed a IJE0S in order to raise the boost ceiling, but my fueling system would tank on E60. After having the dealer update all my modules to native INA0S, I backed up my new factory bin with MHD and used that bin to tune my car specifically. Injectors: Well I coded these somewhat uncommon way of coding. I codded my injectors to the full spec range. Example: The Injector code is written: 254 263 When I enter this into the DME the DME will offset it by -002 in which the finally value would be 252 261 I wanted to target the exact value of each injector as close as possible to the injector specs. So I offset the actual value of the injector by +002 for 256 265 so when entered into the DME the DME will automatically offset the value to 254 263 or close enough without exceeding the injector values Fueling performance was much better, much better, after doing this. I cant really confirm if it was just me or a reality in general to help fueling by mere coding. I would need others to confirm these findings. I have one customer who dropped off his car to the dealer to update all his modules to native INA0S. We will see how his fueling performs after this and perhaps get him to recode his injectors as I did mine. If your injectors have never been coded, then get them coded. There is a 99.99% chance that the factory coding is off from what the default low range of the actual injector values would be set to by the DME on a norm. |

You can buy the ECS Tuning BMW scanning tool that allows you to code injectors and much maintenances stuff for your car. |

I know you'll be happy with the LSD. I'd love to see the "Beast" once you get it tuned in. Bob
