Most had no idea who they were but they looked liked a scene out of a western movie walking in wearing black leather coats and jeans. It was very surreal to see 2 Master Distillers walk through the doors to pay the old man respect. A very cool moment.
Kind of a nice way to honor your Dad...next time I have a Jack I'll tip it to our Dads.

I'd say yes as it's price point is only $199 US, compared with other 40 year old Whisky's that are usually $2000+.
This was bought 8 yrs ago. Bought it for 699.99 when they started selling it.

Well technically, it is OT, so not entirely wrong.
Just a better and more fitting spot:

I disagree. Since he/we haven't opened it yet, he's not actually sipping it yet.

You bought it, you do what you want with it. Christen a boat, marinate dirty bird wings in it, see if your neighbors will believe it's Jack, drop it off the tallest thing you can find.

But it's not going to change just sitting there, so you can keep sitting on it, or use it now, whatever floats your proverbial boat.

That's a great deal. I bought this one for nearly quadruple that price.

Why on earth would you think that was necessary?

If you don't want to open it and have a taste, store it in a room temperature cabinet somewhere and forget about it.

I would keep it in a cool place like a wine cellar or fridge.

What's the oldest bottle of wine you've tasted? If it was not stored properly it can go bad. Should be in a cool place with some wine contacting the cork to keep it from drying out and evaporating.
