Druid Wedding Cake
Should a Druid baker be afforded the same legal right as the Colorado baker to refuse to make or sell a wedding cake to an Olmec male and female couple because of differences in religion?

I know this is a big deal to some people but honestly who cares? Are we really in need of attention that much that we have to tell on someone that makes cakes for a living to get on the local new.
Go to another baker or order the stupid thing online and have it delivered and they will never know the difference. Do we need WW3 just so people will realize how good we have it and stop being such babies. I only bring up war because it seems to be the only thing that makes people understand how good they have it. I know all wars are devastating but I am talking about a war that drafts people and everyone feels the impact not just the in listed military families. I was going to post this reply in a random thread so thanks lol Last edited by obert; 06-09-2018 at 09:04 PM.. |

I don’t know. Should a Roman Catholic priest be forced to perform a bris on a Jewish baby? Should a Jewish Rabbi be forced to fast during Ramadan?
Maybe the husband and wife to-be could just do business with someone who wants their business. Just an idea.

I'm okay with that idea. But i hate being humiliated by being told to my face that I'm not worthy of making a cake for. I also don't want to waste my time driving all over town finding someone who will make a cake for me. So I want to know that you wont serve me before I even walk in the door. So I'd propose legislation that they would have to include in their signage and advertisements "will not serve gays".

If I were in the market for a wedding cake and if I were gay, I think I'd want someone making my cake that was excited for me and my upcoming wedding and wanted to be part of that. I wouldn't want someone involved who secretly despised me and was forced by law to make my cake. It's your right to not make a cake that celebrates something that goes against your religion and it's my right to take my money elsewhere. |

But I do get where you are coming from and I do agree, it is entirely possible to like an individual without condoning their lifestyle. |

How about asking vendors eager/willing to support gay marriage to display a rainbow or other sign on their door, website, Facebook page, etc. to let you know you are welcome rather than the opposite?

Don’t go in business if you don’t want to serve everyone equally.

It’s a stupid stance that says it’s ok to discriminate and put the customer at an inconvenience. I’ll never be ok with such a system.

That's an idealistic and overly simplistic point of view. I just fired a customer of ours because he mistreated one of my employees. He was derogatory, demeaning, and abusive. Should we have served him equally?

I've ventured down this road of debate with a good friend of mine who is a pretty devout Christian. His perspective is that a person being straight or gay is indeed a genetic assignment. Now he happens to feel God plays a part in that assignment, where as I leave it up to the randomness of natural selection. Anyway, in his opinion, it's still up to the individual to decide if they want to act on their attractions and take on a lifestyle that is counter to the teachings of the bible. In otherwords, God made you gay but it's up to you to either abstain from those attractions or succumb to them. |

I made brownies over the weekend. Who wants to eat them with me? I don't give a shit what color you are, if you are gay or straight or what religion you practice.
