New ER Specific Z4 Charge Pipe
Hey guys..
Just wanted to let you know incase you weren't aware that we have the new Z4 charge pipe available now. Great addition to a tune, like the JB4 or as a standalone mod. This would be for the N54 equipped Z4s.. Also TIAL and HKS BOVs are available. IF a BOV is not your choice then you can run the stock DV setup or upgrade to FORGE DVs. Mike |

Sorry to ask but what exactly is the benefit of a charge pipe in the 1st place? I hear that whooshing sound but to me that sounds terrible...other benefits?

When you get a tune that adds more boost, the factory plastic charge pipe is prone to cracking under pressure.

In support of the of the OP here are some before and after result on our project E89 Z4
I started from scratch with the tuning on this car, and finally when there was no more we could get out of it in stock form, it was time to bring out the Zilla in it. Following mods installed
The only thing not installed yet is the UUC SSK and BFI Stage 1 Motor mounts which will be going in within the next week or two So on my way to *********** the night before to drop the Z4 off for the install I decided to do a log on the Z4 which only had the tranny upgrades and the ESC Tuning CF intake and everything else stock to get some good before and after data Temps were 82°f degrees the same as tonight. In a 3rd gear WOT, or just half of it, I hit 134°f IAT temps @ 79 mph . Now I know we have some guys that throw aggressive tunes on there cars without the proper mods. So when you start pushing boost up above 14 PSI with a stock FMIC your IAT are going to start to rocket http://datazap.me/u/buraq/log-144194...-17-18&mark=98 Now, we are pushing boost this high for development and test reasons which does not mean its ok for YOU to do it. As you can see you don't want your car to reach these temps especially that quickly so if you do decide to risk it by flashing your car or selecting a map on your JB4 for higher boost your doing your car no good The above log was after 3 WOT runs, and I couldn't even finish it out as I had to let off when I saw I was getting close to 140° f IAT Now after the install of the ER FMIC and the other goodies, (I wish I had gotten this FMIC for my 335is and thrown away the Dinan FMIC) after 9 aggressive pulls, gears 3-5 reaching almost 130 MPH my IAT temps reached max 117°f IAT on the same 93 octane pump gas map in 82°F ambient temps. Starting temps were 99°f http://datazap.me/u/buraq/82%C2%B0f-...18&zoom=17-315 Amazing performance by the ER FMIC. I Honestly thought something was wrong with my AP or I was looking at another gauge. Cant wait till I throw E60+ in the tank and crank things up. Now you see how poorly the stock FMIC performs when you want to turn things up, but some reason people keep suggesting to skip FMIC upgrade and straight to downpipes. When IAT starts to rocket timing becomes affected and performance degrades rather than performance increasing and being consistent regardless if your have downpipes An FMIC should be the first upgrade before any other mod upgrade other than getting a drop in filter or DCI Days later.............. So I decided to throw E60 for testing the N54 E89 Z4 stock fueling system, bumped load up and timing 9-11 . Proof in in the pudding, these are the results from aggressive extreme stock to FBO+ Last edited by BQTuning; 09-26-2015 at 02:16 PM.. |
