Brake Light Error
Twice in recent weeks, I've gotten a right brake light error. It stays on for about 5-10 minutes and then goes off. Has this happened to anyone else? Any ideas or is this something I should bring the car in to have checked out?
Thanks for your help! |

Water in the rear clusters? Its a known issue. If there is water in there, it may be shorting the lights.
In any event... I'm guessing its still under warranty, take it to the dealer and let them worry about it. |

I have exactly the same issue, i called the BMW dealership and told my BMW mechanic and he said that if it comes and goes its most probably a faulty sensor. I havent decided to go have it changed yet though cause the light works perfectly.

I need to bring the car in as the brake light definitely goes out intermittently. Here's my question---I have the Smarttop installed. Are the brake light modules in the same vicinity? Do I need to fully remove the Smarttop before I bring the car in or can I just de-activate it? Thanks for your help.

I suggest to take it off because "it may" interfere with the BMW diagnostic computer. Thats my opinion though.
