Do you protect your eyes when driving top down?
There is an eye disease call "PTEYGIUM" that has direct related to sun and wind exposure
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pterygium_(conjunctiva) I usually wear this when "TOP DOWN" amber lens during dusk hours, clear lens at night

Sunglasses with Drivewear lenses - absolutely the best driving glasses I've ever had. Not cheap, but superb transitions and purely for driving. Prescription.
And when driving into the sun, a lightweight foam visor marketed as Head Gasket - has velcro in back which allows looping it around the steering column and storing it there when not being used. http://www.drivewearlens.com/home.php?flashchange=8 http://www.croakies.com/Products.asp...okieCheck=true (I have no connection to either of these...) |

I will throw out the opinion that the wimpy sun visors on the Z4 are absolutely the most useless of any I've ever experienced with roadsters including Triumphs and MG's from long ago. When the angle of the sun is low hitting the front of the car I'm constantly holding my hand up trying to block it because the visor certainly doesn't. And those silly little visor mirrors with no lighting - well, that's another matter.
Best regards, Ed |

Prescription "Maui Jim's" or clip ons and a cap with a visor to stop reflections from the frames (or my forehead).
I've worn glasses for 25 years so it's not an option for me. Just to add a note: Many years ago I worked outside all day in the "Field" (for 5 years) and was subjected to huge glare from the bright sun and the snow reflections as I drove around, I ended up with "lumps" on the srface of my eyes and my eye doc prescribed tinted lenses to block it. Worked like a charm. Don't know if this is the same "disease" or not but it was caused by sun/wind/glare. Last edited by mcbeee; 02-22-2010 at 12:21 PM.. |
