Exhaust Pop Sound

Sometimes when I drive away I get that magical raw POP sound from the exhaust when I change gear. Usually at the switch from first to second gear.

Now I thought I had it figured out how to do it every time, but I have a hard time repeating it twice in a row.

I thought rev to about 4000rpm, change to 2nd, and press the throttle a little harder when you change gear. It works, but not always.

What am I doing wrong?

Mine pops for good when I drive away the car in fresh cold start.
But after 2~3 pops it doesn't happen again until engine completely cools down.

My guess: blowout through the waste gate from the twin turbos unloading under power between gears. Other theories?

Definitely there. Definitely two pops. Definitely sounds great.

Its the back fire from the two turbos, hence the two pops.

With the Eisenmann system, the pops are really noticeable and it happens every time you let go of the gas.

Cars outside North America come with Yellow blinkers instead of red like in the US.

pop sound always happens during the engine slows down. It is some back pressure into the exhaust. I have a nice pop in my E60 quad exhaust.

I really like the deeper sound along with the pop that from this video. I only get the pop occasionally since mine is a 6-speed manual, depending on how I shift I think. I'll try to pay more attention without music on and see.
