AR DP Install

I have installed DP's on my 135i with no problems and I am wondering if the install is the same on the Z4. Specifically, I want to know if you need to unbolt the steering rack and pull it towards the front of the car to gain access like you do in the 135i and 335i.

I've got AR DP's and they are a great fit - no need to unbolt the steering rack, but mines an EU version. Don't know if any diff on the US version.

I did move a rear O2 sensor bung slightly (left pipe I think) as the sensor pressed against the underside of the car and wore through the sensor insulation after awhile - had to replace the sensor as it threw an error. No problems since.

Just wanted to add to this, there is no need to unbolt the steering rack on our American spec Z4s to complete the DP install. We completed it in 4 hours using front and rear race ramps. Just like any other N54, you'll notice more torque down low and less choking up top.

I have EU version RHD and we unbolted the steering rack. This is what the official BMW service manual says to do when removing and replacing stock downpipes. Made things a lot easier. We also moved the stock exhaust system back to improve clearance of stock bolts and make alignment perfect. Again this is what the BMW guide tells us.

All in all took around 3.5 hours from memory.

It is much easier to install DP's if you unbolt the steering rack. It is much easier for me since I have a lift but I think that I can install them in less than an hour now if I had to.
