I'll be disappointed if that's the case. It seems like a fun thing to play around with once in a while. I guess I'll find out after my first 1k miles.

I know alot of people find the launch control fun. I tired it for the first time last night and really don't care for it. Fun to peel off leaving some rubber behind but the take off is just okay. Whoever is trying this for the first time, make sure you find an empty road and give yourself some space on both side. The car will slide sideway a little so don't want to swipe anything.

I have done it only twice and loved it - but I am afraid I will tear up the car so I am done with it.

+1

I was actually about to start a thread about this. I think the launch control on our cars is pretty much a gimmick and the take off is better from just depressing the accelerator past the kickdown point (which seems like the car slips the clutch from 3k rpm instead of dumping the clutch at 4k rpm).

To each his/her own but I prefer a rolling start. It feels a lot stronger and I think it takes off better with a rolling start. I guess age has something to do with this as I don't care for for rubber burning starts. And besides, it's much less abusive on the tranny.

Passing on the highway is always a blast with the Z. At 70 mph put her in 4th and hit the throttle. The front end will lift like a true muscle car as it lurch forward.....and the pick up is insane.

Some people say that launch control slows the 0-60 time is that true? If so what the best way to launch the car?

I've tried launch control next to a 350whp AWD. I launched much better 'without' and stayed ahead till 130 kph before she caught up with me. You lose too much traction off the line with the launch control.

Sport+, M1, hit the accel when you need to move instead of the brake/accel technique works best.

Launch control isn't gentle on the transmission & those DCTs aren't cheap.

See the problem I'm facing is when I do that and floor it the cars traction kicks in, and when I turn the cars traction fully off the car slides in every direction. So what exactly do you do?

How many kms on your tires? Have you checked your tire pressure?

If you have adaptive, try SPORT+ OR don't switch completely off (single touch)

The car shouldn't slide around like that, a little bit is understood with RWD.

I don't think it is necessarily a bad thing that the traction control is limiting wheelspin, since the goal is to take off quickly.

The rear will move around using the launch control also.
