Brake fluid change
Planning to do a brake flush and came across some additional info while researching the clutch delay valve. For those of us with an MT, apparently the clutch slave cylinder gets fed hydraulic fluid from the master cylinder. Has anyone flushed the slave cylinder along with the brake lines? Does this need to be done?

When i removed the cdv i needed to bleed the clutch line. The fluid ran quite easily without pumping the clutch pedal.
One would assume if you want to do the job right then if you can get under the car, bleed the clutch also. Be interested as to how you get on with the brake lines. A job i have been putting off for a while. I planned on draining the reservoir and filling, then bleed just using gravity at each wheel, after a local mechanic suggested not too pump the pedal. |

I recently changed my brake fluid using European Power Bleeder. Very useful if you are going to be doing it by yourself, helps by making it air tight to prevent air getting into your brake system and pushes the all the old fluid out using the new fluid.

I use a pressure bleeder too. makes quick work of it and you get no air in the lines like you can by pumping the brake pedal.
I recently came across some info saying that it's not necessary to flush the clutch slave cylinder because, unlike the brake where increased water absorption can lower the boiling point of the brake fluid and decreasing the braking efficiency, the slave cylinder is unaffected by this. So until I hear differently, I'm just doing the brakes.

I like the one from www.bav.auto.com. They sell a catch bottle with a rubber attachment that fits the bleeder valve very nicely. I just ordered it a few weeks ago and the catch bottle was free with the bleeder. Maybe you can still get that promo.
