I may have both and they are awesome; believe it or not I would start with the PSS tires because the stock RFTs can't handle stock power, much less the performance improvements of the ESS flash. Every aspect of the car's handling will be better and the ride more comfortable.

Warning - you will love the Michelins so much that a week after install you will order the ESS unit. Regardless of which order you buy these or if you only buy one, you cannot go wrong as both are awesome products.

I went with the 19" 235 and 265 PSSs with Vintage's reccomendation this weekend and the car really is so much better. The RFTs really make the car too harsh. The PSSs feel soft and soak up the bumps. Thanks, Vintage!

No problem and I am glad you like them - now go try them out on some curvy roads and grin from ear to ear. Every time I drive the Z with these PSS tires on them, I say to myself "darn BMW for trying to ruin a great car with horrible tires." It really is almost unforgivable as it is a performance car hobbled by RFTs.

I know one day me or my wife will have a flat. I will then press the SOS button and wait.

Now, let me know when you order the ESS flash.

Ok, I'm about to switch from RF tires with Michelin Pilot SuperSport based on some good advise from the folks here. Thanks by the way. Now, the dilemma. The RF tires are basically almost new. What did you guys do with yours? I don't have space for it anywhere. I guess Craigslist is the first choice. What's a fair price for these used? Any other suggestions?

what are the RFTs new? $250 or more a piece? if so, I would ask $500 for all and take $400? however, I tend to sell cheap so I can just get rid of stuff quickly

On m 2003 Z4, I ditched the run flats and went with Micheline Pilot Exalto A/S. I wanted to get rid of the RFT's as I hated the trammeling and they would not be good in the winter. I also did not want to have to have two sets of tires to swap so I went with an all season.

Probably an important point, I did not buy the Z4 to run the track so having the best summer performance tire was not a driver for me.

I wanted to balance summer performance with winter capability. I know when you balance you give up a little on each end. e.g. there are tires that do better in the snow and tires that are better in the summer.

Another thing that I liked about these tires is the long life.

I had these tires for 4 years and was very happy with them. I put maybe 20K miles on them

I drove these in the snow when there was less than 3" and had no traction issues. In fact, I drove the Z4 all winter in Colorado except when snow was forecast. Drove when snow was on the ground and not deep. I even drove some on ice with no real issues. One time in a parking lot the DSC came on when driving over a very slick patch of ice and the Z4 didn't even swerve.

The warm weather performance has been excellent as well. Many days so far have been warm enough to drive with the top down.

I noticed a huge difference just going from the original RFT's to these. It was like a different car. Handling improved greatly with no trammeling.

I should caveat that I carried a spare tire and jack in the trunk of my 2003 Z4, but I never needed them.

Way ahead on that one. Love the ESS tune.

Also got a set of the catless AR downpipes but I need to wait to get those hooked up.

I sold our old RFTs through one of the BMW Z4 forums for £400, paid for almost half the cost of the new PSS :-)

Did you replace all 4 at once or do the back first then front as they wear out?
Curious as this may be my future.

I installed the PSS at delivery and sold the RFT's to another forum member.

Just got the new Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires on my car this morning.... WOW.

Just do it!

What a difference between these and the Pirelli P-Zeros that just came off. Ride comfort, grip, feel, all drastically increased. Apparently I should see considerably better wear than the 18,000 Kms that the P-Zero gave me.

the 458 Italia comes with the PSS as OEM equipment; so, if you had any doubt as to how awesome they are - do not, just go buy

Just bought a set of staggered 18" 293 multispokes. Mounted Mich PSS this afternoon. Had original 17" star spoke 290s with continental run flats.

BIG difference! Besides looking a lot better, the ride is less harsh, handling is even better than before. I was wondering if the ride quality would be much different going from 17 RFT to 18 non RF. Does seem better.

Came with a 3 year flat tire guarantee from Michelin. You have a flat they will send someone to change. If you don't have an inflated spare they will tow you to a Michelin dealer. I was concerned that not having RFTs anymore that BMW might not honor the BMW assist tow in. Now no worry if you get stuck.

Anyone know the recommended tire pressure for non RF18's 225/40 front and 255/35 rear? Are they different than the run flats?

36 psi front, 42 psi rear, same as rft's. I have the same tires but different 18" wheels. Love 'em.

I have mine in the shop now changing out my RFT's from my 290 wheels and installing Michelin PSS 225/45ZR17 front and 245/45ZR17 rear to give a staggered look.

Just got a call that they were sent Pilot Sport A/S Plus for the rears, so now waiting to get the PSS in from another store. Now I won't get the rears until next week.

If she rides with you or drives the car, she will quickly appreciate the purchase.

Well, I got an manual, so she can't drive it; but good point on selling her on the comfort factor. I have a few weeks anyway as mine was built to order and still hasn't entered production. I do have a question about what sizes to get though. I ordered a 2013 28i, what size tires should I get for the stock rims? I think I'm leaning towards the regular PSS rather than the run-flats and just hope I don't get a flat lol.

Also, does anyone know what brand of tires comes stock on the 2013?

I have a 30i with 17"x8" all around. I stated with the stock size tire 225/45R17 on the front, but went to a 245/45R17 on the rears. With the Michelin tires, you get free roadside tire change or tow for three years, so having a flat will only cost you time. The smoothness in ride and the noise reduction where key selling points to me. Also going to the larger rear tire, helped to correct my speedometer to my GPS speedometer.
