Illuminated sill plates installed
Not as difficult as from what I read. Like another poster stated, no drilling is required. Took about 1.5 hours to install. Most of my time was spent on delicately removing trim pieces as I did not watch to scratch or break any OEM brackets.
What I found out was the that kick panel speakers in my premium audio was just a standard paper coned speaker. I'm sure all the speakers are the same. wtf. |

In my case, there was no pre-wiring at the installation sites. need to order some wires from BMW and need to do wiring from control box. Took 3-4 hours to finished. This was done by BMW machanics

1.) left/right side door sill 2.) left/right kickpanel 3.) left pedal cover/right glovebox cover underneath the dash. As for wiring, splice into the wires. Unless I'm better than BMW mechanics I finished 1.5 hours and this was with instructions from an older z4. The bums didn't furnish me with installation docs. If I had to do it again, one hour, if even that. BMW wanted to charge me $665 w/ installation, not including 9.75% tax. I did this entire installation for ~$340 parts and with 1.5 hour labor on my part. |

This door sill is the part of the deal when I buy this car, so no labor charge. I need to bring my car to the dealer 3 times to finish this. The first 2 time just open&closed

That's great that you got it with the car. The only think I got worked in was the both the rubber and cloth floormats.
The sills on this car is easier than the 335i as that car requires drilling, but even then, still not too difficult as its only a hole for the wires coming off the sills. So I had a my g/f look at it and she said she was more impressed with the hideaway dvd changer in the glovebox. Girls are just more hard to impress nowadays. |

a haha. my gf says NO to every mod I suggest. Surprisingly she never complained about the ride after I installed my KWV3. When i asked about it she said she didn't notice the difference. Not sure if win or fail on my part.
and Nice door sills!

Just out of interest, what colour wires do they splice into. Obvious if you have the footwell lights, but what if you haven't ?
I see the installation instructions suggest red/blue wire. Is this the same for the e89. Update..tested the red/blue wire, its permanent 12v. Not to worry, used a feed of the dome light bulb to operate a relay, to power the puddle/footwell lights. Last edited by bigendbob; 06-16-2013 at 03:18 AM.. |
