The definitive MTB Thread
Had a thread like this on another forum and it was great so I thought I would get one up and running as a place for all things MTBing from pictures/equipment specs etc.
Also a good place for advice for anybody looking to buy some new kit or get into the sport. I was going to get the ball rolling by posting a picture of my main MTB but then i realised i don't have one on my laptop (You roadies may also want a similar thread but as i only do about 200mile per year on the road bike I'll let somebody else deal with that) |

One thing I would like to know... Is there anybody running the 3pos damper in the new Factory 36?
Im thinking about upgrading and ideally wanted HSC/LSC but as i don't want the hassle of pinch bolts on the axle I would have to go with the 3pos damper. |

May want to PM a moderator and ask them to move this to the Sports sub forum.
Already have a roadie thread in there. http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1249294

I'm not sure who the mods are. If a mod sees the thread feel free to move it.
Is that going to be the next thing then to go with 27.5+, the long travel FS fat bike. It looks mean but I'm not sure I see the point, for me the only time I see myself using a fatbike is when it snows once a year. The rest of the time I would ride my AM rig |

Nice thread!
I just got back from a ride. Hopefully this doesn't turn into a cross country riding dominated thread. Here is a photo of me riding a nice little roller in Laguna Beach CA |

I have the great fortune to live not far from the North Shore mountains and have ridden all of them. Haven't been able to do much riding the past three or four years after a health issue and now work craziness, but this makes me really want to get out this year!
I still have my old 26er and can't justify the money for a new ride so it's going to have to do ... |

JohnnyCanuck Jealous of your location for riding! Rode Whistler two years ago and it was amazing. I also heard that the best trails aren't even lift accessed but many are near Squamish?

PoorLurker, can't beat it. Yes, Whistler for lift access trails is awesome. Squamish is partway along the Sea to Sky Highway between Vancouver and Whistler and has some phenomenal riding too. I've done mostly xc there, not really much downhill.
I've probably done most of my downhill on Burnaby or Seymour Mountains. Burnaby isn't the North Shore but it's perfect when i want to ride something where I know the trails and want to have fun as opposed to more of challenge that is the north shore. If you're ever up here again, check out http://www.sorca.ca/ for Squamish riding and http://www.nsmba.ca/ for North Shore riding. Maybe I'll even get off my ass sometime soon and we can connect on a trail |

Mr Tonka You need to get away from the East Coast during some part of your life! haha
There's a reason why Richie Schley could live anywhere in the world and he chose Laguna Beach. |

I never heard of him either before I found out he has a trail named after him in Whistler. Then, I found out he's like the godfather of free riding. Not sure what he does for work though as Laguna real estate is like $1,000 per sq. ft. and he drives a $140k car.

Would love to ride whistler but in reality I haven't got the stones to tackle most of the tables/jumps whistler has.
I just don't ride them often enough so the skill of riding a table well is one I still haven't acquired |

McBride ... I'm not big on tables and stunts either. I like my downhill sections steep, don't mind some drops, but don't like riding elevated. At this age, I seek out what I like more than not ...

I am not that into jumps either. The nice thing about Whistler is that they designate jump line trails (flow) and technical trails. You can see that Schleyer is a Technical double black. Freight Train and ALine are Flow trails.
I much prefer technical. bimmette balet? check ...car mods? check? Mountain biking? |
