I'm leaving for my ED on Friday and I don't remember the website that allows you to view the progress of the ship carrying your car in real time. Anyone recall that?

thanks Wraith. I was supposed to do this ED in 2010 but the Icelandic volcano caused my trip to be cancelled. I'm happy to have another opportunity.

It is indeed a great experience. Don't be put off by the high cost of living over there you can for example expect to pay close to $11- if not more for a US Gallon of Super Fuel. The Autobahn is fun, only your fuel will slip away fast on high speeds as you know.

The country roads are fun at slower speeds, food is great and most everyone speaks English. You might even find the fuel prices a bit lower on the country roads. Find save parking places for over night parking. I always stay at B&B's when I go to Germany (unless I visit with family members). This year will be the first year I will not rent a car, I will use the public transport system and a EuroRail Pass.

I am sure your contact at Die Welt will have well laid out plans for you ready when you get there.

Have a great trip and take plenty of pictures

European delivery is on my wish list for a future BMW. I could not hold my own on the Autobahn though. I enjoy driving but do not like driving fast! Country roads and the top down are more my speed. Post some pictures for us and above all, enjoy your new car

The autobahn is automotive enlightenment. The only downside is trying be conscious of the break in period of your new car.. Nothing beats cruising at 140 while passing cops on your right. First time I did i instinctively tapped the brakes and the Porsche behind me had a fit flashing it's lights like crazy. That snapped me back to the realization of where I was and the solution..., stomp on it and go faster! What a rush!
